NT 163W Advanced Principles of Adult Care<br />

for the LPN/Licensed Paramedic 3 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: NT 161 and NT 162 with minimum grade of “C” (2.0).<br />

Concurrent enrollment in NT 163L. Presents health care problems<br />

related to alterations in hematology, cardiopulmonary, endocrine,<br />

reproductive, perioperative, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal , renal, and<br />

neuro function with emphasis on critical thinking in basic to complex<br />

nursing care. For successful completion, a grade of at least a “C” must<br />

be earned in both this course and its concurrent lab course (lab grade<br />

will be same as theory grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned in<br />

both theory and lab if either course is not successfully completed. (45-0)<br />

NT 215LW Transition-Maternity Nursing Lab 1 Sem Hr<br />

Prerequisite: NT 163 and NT 163L with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0).<br />

Concurrent enrollment in NT 215. Provides clinical opportunities<br />

to apply the ADN roles of Provider of Care and Member within the<br />

Discipline of Nursing in the maternity health care setting and introduces<br />

the fundamental skills needed to function in the Manager of Care role.<br />

Requires a concurrent theory course (NT 215). For successful completion,<br />

a grade of at least a “C” must be earned in this course and its concurrent<br />

theory course. A final grade of “F” will be assigned in both theory and<br />

childbearing family. Focuses on distinguishing normal from abnormal<br />

conditions and interventions to promote a safe, satisfying childbirth<br />

experience. Requires a concurrent lab course (NT 215L). For successful<br />

completion, a grade of at least a “C” must be earned in this course and<br />

its concurrent lab course (lab grade will be same as theory grade). A final<br />

grade of “F” will be assigned in both theory and lab if either course is<br />

styles. Includes overview of nursing’s past and present, and challenges<br />

for the future. Credit may be earned in NUR 100 or NUR 100A, but not<br />

Prerequisite: Current validation for ADN program - Full-time Track.<br />

Concurrent Enrollment in NUR 101A. Emphasizes critical thinking related<br />

to application of specific concepts and nursing process as the framework<br />

for nursing diagnosis and practice skills. Requires mastery of specified<br />

clinical skills/procedures in a simulated laboratory setting. This lab course<br />

has a concurrent theory course. For successful completion, a grade of at<br />

least “C” must be earned in both this course and its concurrent theory<br />

course. A final grade of “F” will be assigned in both theory and lab if<br />

either course is not successfully completed. Credit may be earned in<br />

of Nursing. Identifies the role of professional nursing practice based<br />

on principles of the biological and social sciences. Addresses ethical<br />

and legal responsibilities of nursing practice. This theory course has a<br />

concurrent lab course. For successful completion, a grade of at least<br />

a “C” must be earned in this course and its concurrent lab course (lab<br />

grade will be same as theory grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned<br />

in both theory and lab if the lab course is not successfully completed.<br />

NUR 101BLW Care of the Aging Adult Lab<br />

Prerequisite: NUR 101A or NPT 101A with a minumum of “C” (2.0)<br />

Applies the ADN roles of Provider of Care and Member within the<br />

Discipline of Nursing through application of the nursing process and<br />

adherance to legal and ethical aspects of nursing practice while providing<br />

nursing care of older adults in a variety of environments and health care<br />

settings. This lab course has a concurrent theory course. For successful<br />

completion, a grade of least a “C” must be earned in both this course and<br />

its concurrent theory course (lab grade will be same as theory grade). A<br />

final grade of “F” will be assigned in both theory and lab if either course<br />

is not successfully completed. Credit can be earned in NUR 101BL or<br />

in both theory and lab if either course is not successfully completed.<br />
