NPT 101ALW Nursing Fundamentals Lab<br />

1.5 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: Current validation for ADN Program - Part-time Track.<br />

Concurrent enrollment in NPT 101A. Emphasizes critical thinking related<br />

to application of specific concepts and nursing process as the framework<br />

for nursing diagnosis and practice skills. Requires mastery of specified<br />

clinical skills/procedures in a simulated laboratory setting. This lab<br />

course has a concurrent theory course. For successful completion, a grade<br />

of at least a “C” must be earned in both this course and its concurrent<br />

theory course. A final grade of “F” will be assigned in both theory and<br />

lab if either course is not successfully completed. Credit can be earned<br />

in NPT 101AL or NUR 101AL but not both. (0-67)<br />

NPT 101AW Nursing Fundamentals 3.5 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: Current validation for ADN program - Part-time Track.<br />

Concurrent enrollment in NPT 101AL. Introduces the three AND roles<br />

of Provider of Care, Manager of Care, and Member within the Discipline<br />

of Nursing. Identifies the role of professional nursing practice based on<br />

principles of the biological and social sciences. Addresses ethical and legal<br />

responsibilities of nursing practice. This theory course has a concurrent<br />

lab course (NPT 101AL). For successful completion, a grade of at least a<br />

“C” must be earned in both this course and its concurrent lab course (lab<br />

grade will be same as theory grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned<br />

in both theory and lab if either course is not successfully completed.<br />

Credit can be earned in NPT 101A or NUR 101A, but not both. (52-0)<br />

NPT 101BLW Care of the Aging Adult Lab<br />

2.0 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: NPT 101A or NUR 101A and NPT 101AL or NUR 101AL<br />

with a minumum of “C” (2.0). Concurrent enrollment in NPT 101B.<br />

Applies the ADN roles of Provider of Care and Member within the<br />

Discipline of Nursing through application of the nursing process and<br />

adherance to legal and ethical aspects of nursing practice while providing<br />

nursing care for older adults in a variety of environments and health<br />

care settings. This lab course has a concurrent theory course. For<br />

successful completion, a grade of at least a “C” must be earned in both<br />

this course and its concurrent theory course (lab grade will be same as<br />

theory grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned in both theory and<br />

lab if either course is not successfully completed. Credit can be earned<br />

in NPT 101BL or NUR 101BL, but not both. (0-92)<br />

NPT 101BW Care of the Aging Adult 2.0 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: NPT 101A or NUR 101A and NPT 101AL or NUR 101AL<br />

with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0). Concurrent enrollment in NUR<br />

101BL. Introduces concepts of gerontological nursing. For successful<br />

completion, a grade of at least a “C” must be earned in both this course<br />

and its concurrent lab course (lab grade will be same as theory grade).<br />

A final grade of “F” will be assigned in both theory and lab if either<br />

course is not successfully completed. Credit can be earned in NPT 101B<br />

or NUR 101B, but not both. (30-0)<br />

NPT 115LW Maternity Nursing Lab 1 Sem Hr<br />

Prerequisite: NPT 101B or NUR 101B and NPT 101BL or NUR 101BL<br />

with minimum grade of “C” (2.0). Concurrent enrollment in NPT 115.<br />

Provides clinical opportunities to apply the ADN roles of Provider of Care<br />

and Member within the Discipline of Nursing in the Maternity Health<br />

Care setting and introduces the fundamental skills needed to function<br />

in the Manager of Care role. Requires a concurrent theory course (NPT<br />

115). For successful completion, a grade of at least a “C” must be earned<br />

in this course and its concurrent theory course (lab grade will be same<br />

as theory grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned in both theory<br />

and lab if either course is not successfully completed. Credit may be<br />

earned in NPT 115L or NUR 115L, but not both. (0-45)<br />

NPT 115W Maternity Nursing 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: NPT 101B or NUR 101B and NPT 101BL or NUR 101BL<br />

with minimum grade of “C” (2.0). Concurrent enrollment in NPT 115L,<br />

NPT 116, and NPT 116L. Concurrent enrollment in NPT 115LW. Presents<br />

nursing care of the childbearing family. Focus on distinguishing normal<br />

from abnormal conditions and interventions to promote a safe, satisfying<br />

childbirth experience. Requires a concurrent lab course (NPT 115L). For<br />

successful completion, a grade of at least a “C” must be earned in this<br />

course and its concurrent lab course (lab grade will be same as theory<br />

grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned in both theory and lab if<br />

either course is not successfully completed. Credit can be earned in<br />

NPT 115 or NUR 115, but not both. (30-0)<br />

NPT 116LW Pediatric Nursing lab 1 Sem Hr<br />

Prerequisite: NPT 101B or NUR 101B and NPT 101BL or NUR 101BL<br />

with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0). Concurrent enrollment in NPT 116.<br />

Provides clinical opportunities to apply the ADN roles of Provider of Care<br />

and Member within the Discipline of Nursing in the Pediatric Health Care<br />

setting and introduces the fundamental skills needed to function in the<br />

Manager of Care role. Requires a concurrent theory course (NPT 116).<br />

For successful completion, a grade of at least a “C” must be earned in<br />

this course and its concurrent theory course (lab grade will be same as<br />

theory grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned in both theory and<br />

lab if either course is not successfully completed. Credit can be earned<br />

in NPT 116L or NUR 116L, but not both. (0-45)<br />

NPT 116W Pediatric Nursing 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: NPT 101B or NUR 101B and NPT 101BL or NUR 101BL<br />

with minimum grade of “C” (2.0). Concurrent enrollment in NPT<br />

116L. Presents nursing care of the child and family experiencing illness/<br />

hospitalization. Emphasis on principles of growth and development, and<br />

bio-psycho-social needs of clients from infancy through adolescence.<br />

Requires a concurrent lab course (NPT 116L). For successful completion,<br />

a grade of at least a “C” must be earned in this course and its concurrent<br />

lab course (lab grade will be same as theory grade). A final grade<br />

of “F” will be assigned in both theory and lab if either course is not<br />

successfully completed. Credit can be earned in NPT 116 or NUR 116,<br />

but not both. (30-0)<br />

NPT 119LW Mental Health Nursing Lab 1 Sem Hr<br />

Prerequisite: NPT 101B or NUR 101B and NPT 101BL or NUR 101BL<br />

with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0). Concurrent enrollment in NPT 119.<br />

Provides clinical opportunities to apply the ADN roles of Provider of<br />

Care and Member within the Discipline of Nursing in selected health<br />

care/mental health agencies and introduces the fundamental skills needed<br />

to function in the Manager of Care role. Requires a concurrent theory<br />

course (NPT 119). For successful completion, a grade of at least a “C”<br />

must be earned in this course and its concurrent theory course (lab grade<br />

will be same as theory grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned in<br />

both theory and lab if either course is not successfully completed. Credit<br />

may be earned in NPT 119L or NUR 119L, but not both. (0-45)<br />

NPT 119W Mental Health Nursing 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: NPT 101B or NUR 101B and NPT 101BL or NUR 101BL<br />

with a minimum grade of “C” (2.0). Concurrent enrollment in NPT<br />

119L. Presents nursing care of clients and their families experiencing<br />

emotional distress/mental illness. Requires a concurrent lab course<br />

(NPT 119L). For successful comjpletion, a grade of at least a “C” must<br />

be earned in this course and its concurrent lab course (lab grade will<br />

be same as theory grade). A final grade of “F” will be assigned in both<br />

theory and lab if either course is not successfully completed. Credit may<br />
