DA 110 Clinical Dental Assisting 3 Sem Hrs<br />

and physiology of the oral cavity, head, and neck. Includes oral histology,<br />

embryology, and pathology related to the development of the dental<br />

Presents theory, properties, manipulation, and hazard management of<br />

each. Concurrent enrollment in 113W. Emphasizes oral hygiene, general<br />

and applied nutrition, as well as patient motivation techniques. Dental<br />

the opportunity to apply practical skills in a clinical setting. Requires<br />

Prerequisites: DA 113W, DA 117W, and HSC 140 with a “C” (2.0) minimum<br />

grade in each. Concurrent enrollment in DA 123W. Provides laboratory<br />

practice in the application of commonly used dental radiographic<br />

procedures utilizing mannequins and clinic patients. (0-60)<br />

DA 123W Dental Radiology 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisites: DA 113W, DA 117W, and HSC 140 with a “C” (2.0) minimum<br />

grade in each. Concurrent enrollment in DA 123LW. Introduces the<br />

principles of radiation physics, factors affecting radiographic images,<br />

biological effects of radiation, and the protective measures necessary<br />

in dental radiation (30-0)<br />

Emphasizes fundamental office skills in managing patient and business<br />

records, handling the telephone and visitors, controlling the appointment<br />

book, and processing dental claim forms. Includes basic financial<br />

Prerequisite: DA 120 and DA 120LW with a minimum “C” (2.0) grade<br />

in each. Concurrent enrollment in DA 133. Provides the opportunity to<br />

perform chairside assisting techniques, laboratory procedures, and dental<br />

office management skills while under direct supervision. Assignments<br />

enrollment in DA 131W. Provides continual dental procedure knowledge<br />

and skill development needed to perform expanded functions as<br />

permitted by State of Michigan mock clinical exam. (0-80)<br />

DA 131W RDA Exam Prep 1 Sem Hr<br />

Prerequisites: DA 120, DA 120LW, DA 121W, DA 123W, DA 123LW,<br />

DA 125W, and DA 125LW with a “C” (2.0) minimum grade in each.<br />

Concurrent enrollment in DA 131LW. Provides continual dental procedure<br />

knowledge and skill development needed to perform expanded fundtions<br />

Examines terminology of dental anatomy, morphology of the human<br />

DH 110 Dental Infection Control 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: Current validation for Dental Hygiene Program. Presents<br />

theory and application of procedures and skills necessary to control<br />

transmissible diseases. Provides opportunities to practice Universal<br />

Precautions for the patient, professional, environment, and facilities.<br />
