Prerequisite: CST 170 with a grade of “C” or better. Introduces Visual<br />

Basic as a first class for Micro Computer programmers. Uses BASIC<br />

commands in a Windows environment. Emphasizes implementation<br />

of objects and event driven code. Presents screen design and MicroSoft<br />

Visual Basic controls. Includes structured programming principles<br />

including internal and external program documentation; sequence,<br />

CST 180 C++ Programming 4 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: MATH LEVEL 5 and CST 177 or permission of instructor.<br />

Uses the C++ language to introduce software development principles.<br />

Develops solutions to computing problems through algorithm design,<br />

development, implementation, and testing. Includes control structures,<br />

arrays, files, strings, pointers, and fundamental object-oriented<br />

programming. Credit may be earned in only one of the following: CST<br />

180, CST 181, CIS 170, CPS 170, or EGR 170. (60-0)<br />

Prerequisites: CST 180 or instructor permission. Introduces the Java<br />

programming language with applications and applets. Emphasizes Java<br />

classes and object-oriented programming concepts. Includes control<br />

user interface components. Introduces exception handling, multimedia,<br />

and multithreading. Credit may be earned in only one of the following:<br />

documentation. Incorporates text, graphics, sound, and animations in<br />

game design. Includes Top-Down Design, Object Oriented Programming,<br />

CST 204 Microsoft Word: Intermediate 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: CST 104 or CST 134. Develops further the practical working<br />

knowledge of Microsoft Word software. Refines formatting and focuses<br />

CST 210 Advanced Web Page Development 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: CST 110, CIS 160, CPS 160, CIS 161 or equivalent basic<br />

HTML web page knowledge. Focuses on concepts and tools for building<br />

web pages beyond basic HTML. Includes introductions to frames,<br />

forms, stylesheets, image maps, and managing differences in current<br />

web browsers. Introduces web page scripting and server interactions.<br />

Discusses Internet issues including ethics, etiquette, accessibility and<br />

Prerequisite: CST 170 and CST 210, or equivalent HTML and programming<br />

experience. Introduces the JavaScript scripting language for web page<br />

enhancement. Includes JavaScript programming elements, forms and<br />

graphical user interface, managing windows, controlling links and<br />

location, and working with images, plug-ins, and documents. Credit<br />

may be earned in CST 214 or CST 114 but not in both. (30-0)<br />

CST 216 Web Site Management 3 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisites: CST 110 or CIS 160 or CPS 160, and ART 171 or equivalent<br />

experience. Explores the design and management of web sites using a<br />

variety of software applications. Uses hands-on experiences to create<br />

advanced web pages including hyperlinks, lists, tables, frames, forms,<br />

graphics, and special effects. (45-0)<br />

CST 217 Web Server Programming 3 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: CST 214 and CST 216; or equivalent web development<br />

experience. Introduces web server programming for processing user<br />

interactions with an Internet server. Focuses on processing web page<br />

form information, dynamically creating web pages, executing data-driven<br />

applications on a Web server, and performing various interactions with<br />

Prerequisite: CST 217. Provides capstone experience for development<br />

of a complete web site for realistic client needs. Includes determination<br />

of requirements and web system design from an actual or hypothetical<br />

client. Includes deployment of a web site with a well-defined home<br />

page, multiple content pages, required graphics, forms, and server<br />

CST 228 Advanced PC Troubleshooting (A+) 4 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: Basic computer literacy and/or instructor permission.<br />

Covers common and advanced Microsoft Windows interface<br />

troubleshooting problems and techniques for solving them. Discusses<br />

function and structure of Microsoft Windows environment for managing<br />

files and directories; installing, configuring, customizing, and upgrading<br />

Windows environment and navigating through the operating system<br />

to access and retrieve information. Reviews Internet access concepts<br />

and setup. (60-0)<br />

CST 235 Systems Analysis and Design 3 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: CST 133 or CIS 133, and CST 170 or CIS 130, 1 semester of<br />

accounting, and a programming language course. Includes study of data<br />

processing systems and procedures involving analysis of various existing<br />

data processing applications in business and industry. Includes a study of<br />

integrated or total management information and data processing systems.<br />

Emphasis is given to developing detailed procedures in various areas of<br />

management. Designed to study the three phases: Analysis of present<br />

information flow; system specification and equipment; implementation<br />

and documentation of the system. Credit may be earned in CST 235 or<br />

CIS 235, but not both. (45-0)<br />

CST 257 Database MS Access 3 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: Any microcomputer class. Emphasizes the advantages of<br />

database processing, modeling, and design. Discusses design concepts<br />

from the standpoint of the user. Uses MicroSoft ACCESS. Credit may<br />

be earned in CST 257 or CIS 260, but not both. (45-0)<br />
