CPI 220 Process Measurement 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: CPI 210 with a grade of “C” or better. Provides an<br />
understanding of process measurement methods and the application of<br />
process instrumentation. Includes discussion of pressure measuremens,<br />
temperature measurement, flow measurement, product level<br />

CPI 230 Process Control 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: CPI 220 with a grade of “C” or better. Provides an<br />
introduction to basic process control concepts. Discusses controllers/<br />
control valves, instrument and process control, statistical process<br />
control (SPC), run and flow charts, quality systems, team concepts, and<br />
environmental health and safety issues. (45-0)<br />
CPI 240W Process Troubleshooting 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: CPI 250 with a grade of “C” or better. Provides problem<br />
solving skills used to maintain and monitor process equipment<br />
employing cause and effect analyses, case studies, analytical techniques,<br />
and laboratory simulations. Involves troubleshooting unit problems,<br />
maintaining, monitoring, and inspecting equipment, placing and/or<br />
removing equipment in service, and working with others who operate<br />
and maintain processes (maintenance technicians; laboratory technicians;<br />
and engineering, administrative and construction personnel). (30-30)<br />
CPI 245 Environmental Health, & Safety in<br />
Chemical Process Industry<br />

Prerequisite: Instructor permission required to register. Requires that<br />
the student has already earned a technical associate, bachelor or greater<br />
degree; military experience; over 8000 hours industrial experience; or<br />
a journeyman’s card. Reviews the environmental health and safety<br />
procedures and standards in the chemical process industry. (30-15)<br />
CPI 250W Advanced Chemical Operations 4 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisites: CPI 230 with a grade of “C” or better. Provides hands-on<br />
simulations that demonstrate mechanical and measurement principles<br />
involved in the operation and control of chemical processes. Includes<br />
student/team operation of a process simulator under normal operating<br />
conditions as well as the operations of tanks, pumps, valves, heat transfer<br />
equipment, steam traps, filters, and process instrumentation. (45-30)<br />
CPI 260W Process Operations Management 4 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: CPI 240 and CPI 250 with a grade of “C” or better. Provides<br />
capstone experience for chemical process operation students/technicians.<br />
Focuses on demonstrated student skills in the use of control charts;<br />
P&ID’s; verification of systems, units, and equipment; and development<br />
of critical values for SPC. Provides opportunity for students to present<br />
plans (including PSM and environmental management systems) and<br />
procedures for start-up and run, shut down operations, and present<br />
results of pilot project run. Emphasizes the value and function of the<br />
team in process operations as well as quality control, and environmental<br />
health and safety issues (45-45)<br />
CPI 270 Advanced Process Operations Lab 2 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: CPI 230, CPI 240, CPI 250 with a minimum grade of “C” or<br />
better, Concurrent enrollment with CPI 260 is recommended. Provides<br />
practical application of the skills required of an entry level chemical<br />
operator, including following Standard Operating Procedures, new<br />
process commissioning, equipment troubleshooting, preventative<br />
maintenance, Lock Out / Tag Out and Environmental, Health and Safety<br />

CST 091 Beginning Computer Windows Concepts 1 Sem Hr<br />
Provides the terminology needed to become familiar with computer<br />
hardware and software. Provides a first exposure to the Windows<br />
Operating system in a hands-on setting focusing on file and folder<br />
management. Assists those who lack familiarity with computer<br />
technology. This course does not count towards graduation. Credit may<br />
be earned in CST 091 or CST 092, but not both. (15-3)<br />

Presents the terminology needed to become familiar with the Internet.<br />
Provides a first exposure to the Internet in a hands-on setting. Assists<br />

CST 103 Windows Foundations 1 Sem Hr<br />
Provides a basic introduction to the Microsoft Windows Operating<br />
System. Includes the creation of folders and use and review of the<br />
basic concepts of storage on floppy and hard disk. Introduces the basic<br />
features of Windows including menus, icons, dialog boxes, and the title<br />
and menu bars. Emphasizes the use of multi tasking. (15-0)<br />
CST 104 Microsoft Word Foundations 1 Sem Hr<br />
Prerequisite: OAT 170 Keyboarding with a “C” (2.0) grade minimum<br />
or equivalent touch typing and computer background. Introduces<br />
Microsoft Word software. Teaches how to create, format, save, retrieve,<br />

Prerequisite: CST 103 or equivalent computer background. Introduces<br />
Microsoft Outlook and its e-mail, calendar, contacts, and tasks/notes<br />
components. Teaches how to send and receive e-mail, manage calendar<br />
activities, maintain contacts, and create tasks and notes. Also includes<br />
