CHM 210LW Organic Chemistry I Laboratory 1 Sem Hr<br />
Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in CHM 210.<br />
Provides the basic principles of organic laboratory techniques. Includes<br />
note keeping, filtrations, recrystalizations, extractions, distillation<br />
methods, spectroscopic methods, chromatographic methods, chemical<br />

Prerequisite: Completion of CHM 210 with a minimum grade of C (2.0).<br />
Provides a continuation of CHM 210 with reactions, mechanisms and<br />
nomenclature of carbonyl groups, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and<br />
nucleotides. Includes special topics with applications in the medical,<br />
pharmaceutical and industrial fields. Meets the needs of students in<br />

of the instructor. Presents the theory and practice of basic chemical<br />
preparation and analysis as performed in research and/or industrial<br />

as well as hands-on maintenance and repair operations. Beneficial to all<br />

CJ 101 Police Recruit Training 6 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: Must be currently employed full-or part-time by a law<br />
enforcement agency, or have completed an Associate Degree upon<br />
entry, or will receive an Associate Degree upon completion of the Basic<br />
Police Training Academy. OAT 153, LW 280, and LWT 175 must be taken<br />
concurrently. Provides the basic training necessary to assume the duties<br />
of a police officer in preparation for MCOLES (Michigan Commission on<br />
Law Enforcement Standards) state certification. Includes constitutional<br />
law, criminal law, laws of arrest, search and seizure, investigative<br />
techniques, first aid, firearms, motor vehicle laws, defensive tactics, and<br />

necessary to assume the duties of corrections deputy or local detention<br />
officer in accordance with Michigan Sheriff’s Coordinating and Training<br />
Council (MSCTC) standards and certification. Includes Booking and<br />
Intake Screening, Correctional Law, Cultural Diversity, Custody and<br />
Security, Stress Management, Ethics in Corrections, Prisoner Behavior,<br />
