ARC 214 Architectural AutoCAD 3D Basics 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisites: ARC 114, CAD 114, or a working knowledge of AutoCAD<br />
and permission of the instructor.Introduces 3D AutoCAD drawing,<br />
including: Conversion of 2D drawings to 3D, user coordinate system<br />
(UCS) manipulation, line extrusion, 3D faces, dynamic viewing, paper<br />
space viewing and printing, shading, hiding, simplified methods of<br />
architectural presentation. Continues study of 2D techniques with<br />
application to 3D objects. Introduces add on software for generating<br />
automatic architectural elements (currently KETIV brand software<br />
is used) including: doors, windows, stairs, roofs, cross sections, and<br />
predrawn architectural icons (cars, plants, people, furniture, etc.) (45-0)<br />
ARC 221 Site Preparation 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: MATH LEVEL 4. Studies fundamentals of site analysis,<br />
including utility services, metes and bounds, solar access and restrictions.<br />
Teaches elements of surveying including use of instruments, leveling,<br />
measurement of angles and distances, contours, location of site elements<br />
and development of a site plan from field data. Interprets engineering<br />
surveys, introduces landscape design, and studies computer aided<br />
design examples. Credit may be earned in ARC 221 or SKCT 105 but<br />

Technology<br />
ARC 314 Architectural Rendering Basics 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: ARC 214 or working knowledge of AutoCAD and permission<br />
of the instructor. Introduces 3D studio VIZ rendering mechanisms/<br />
AutoCAD rendering mechanisms. Operates camera angles, creates<br />
light sources, digital materials and applies existing digital materials to<br />
3D model from ARC 214. Introduces rendering techniques in both 3D<br />
studio VIZ and AutoCAD. Renders bitmap image for final class project.<br />
Continues, from ARC 214, to next logical sequential rendering level. (45-0)<br />

ART 100 Elements of Color Photography 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Introduces technical operations of 35mm cameras in the color medium.<br />
Improves quality and design of photographs and develops aesthetic<br />
awareness and visual literacy. Credit may be earned in ART 100 or PHO<br />
100 but not in both. (45-0)<br />
ART 101 Photography I 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Applies basic aesthetic problems of photography including: a historical<br />
and critical context for looking at and making photographs; concurrent<br />
darkroom practice which includes black and white film; print<br />
development and camera operations. Additional lab hours to be arranged.<br />
Credit may be earned in PHO 101 or ART 101 but not in both. (0-90)<br />
ART 102 Photography II 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisites: PHO 101 or ART 101or permission of instructor. Provides<br />
additional foundations of black and white photography to improve<br />
technical skills. Continues to build visual literacy, aesthetic awareness,<br />
and personal style. Includes working with specialty films and alternative<br />
photographic processes. Credit may be earned in PHO 102 or ART 102<br />

ART 105 Art Experience 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Designed for students not majoring in Art to provide an enriching<br />
experience to two- and three-dimensional media: to include drawing,<br />
painting, graphic media, clay and other sculptural media. It is designed<br />
primarily for the general degree student who wishes to have some art<br />
experience. There will also be an emphasis on art appreciation. (15-45)<br />
ART 111 Drawing I 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Introduces techniques in various drawing media and concepts in visual<br />
art with emphasis in drawing from observation. (0-90)<br />
ART 112 Drawing II 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: ART 111. Continues the exploration of formal aspects of<br />
visual art with emphasis placed on articulating a personal response to<br />
various drawing problems. Practices drawing techniques and processes<br />
at the intermediate level using a variety of drawing media. (0-90)<br />
ART 113 Art Education 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Introduction to art for prospective teachers. Develops the ability to<br />
stimulate the creative interests of children in art. Acquaints the student<br />
with a variety of methods and materials adjusted to various grade<br />

ART 115 Design I 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Experiments with the basic elements of design: line, form, space, value,<br />
textures, and color. Utilizes a variety of media in developing a visual<br />
vocabulary and understanding of art elements and composition. (0-90)<br />
ART 116 Three Dimensional Design 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: ART 111 and ART 115. Examines a series of problems<br />
designed to explore the elements of design in 3-dimensional/spatial<br />

Honors<br />
3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisites: READING LEVEL 4 and WRITING LEVEL 2 and<br />
permission of the Honors Office. Required of all first-year art majors.<br />
Surveys Western art from Prehistoric times to the Renaissance. Deals<br />
with major works and artists of the Prehistoric, Ancient, Classical and<br />
Medieval cultures. Emphasizes the architecture and sculpture of these<br />
periods. Provides opportunities to engage in independent intellectual<br />
inquiry to foster deeper learning. Credit may be earned in ART 151 or<br />
ART 151HW but not in both (45-0).<br />
ART 151W Art History and Appreciation I 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisites: READING LEVEL 2 or WRITING LEVEL 2. Required of<br />
all first-year art majors. Surveys Western art from Prehistoric times to<br />
the Renaissance. Deals with major works and artists of the Prehistoric,<br />
Ancient, Classical and Medieval cultures. Emphasizes the architecture<br />
and sculpture of these periods. Credit may be earned in ART 151 or ART<br />

Prerequisites: READING LEVEL 2 or WRITING LEVEL 2. Required<br />

Impressionism, Expressionism and various modern schools. Emphasizes<br />

ART 171 Digital Media for the Web 2 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisites: CST 103 or an understanding of file management and CST<br />
106 or ability to search the internet for specific information. Explores the<br />
different types of graphic images and sounds that can be incorporated<br />
into a web page. Uses hands-on experiences with a number of different<br />
software packages to create and modify images and sounds. (30-0)<br />
ART 206 Digital Photography 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: ART 100 or ART 101 or PHO 100 or PHO 101. Introduces<br />
basic techniques of digital photography, with emphasis on the creative<br />
use of media in fine and applied art. Utilizes slide presentations, videos,<br />
CD Roms, and the Internet as resources. Credit may be earned in PHO<br />

ART 210 Figure Drawing 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: ART 111. Introduces drawing of the human figure in<br />
pictorial space. Emphasizes in-depth awareness of the body’s underlying<br />
geometry and anatomical structure working with live model. (0-90)<br />
ART 217 Painting I 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisites: ART 111, ART 115. Introduces fundamental painting<br />
concepts and techniques. Surveys various processes from traditional<br />
to contemporary with an emphasis placed on articulating a personal<br />

ART 218 Painting II 3 Sem Hrs<br />
Prerequisite: ART 217. Continues exploration and practices of painting<br />
processes and techniques. Develops and executes creative resolutions<br />
