AFT 105 Primary Pilot Flight Training I 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: Completion of or concurrent enrollment in AFT 101 and<br />

coordinator permission. Provides knowledge, skills, and aeronautical<br />

experience necessary to met the requirements for solo flight. Includes<br />

flight training for the following procedures and maneuvers: proper flight<br />

preparations procedures, taxiing or surface operations, takeoffs and<br />

landings, straight-and-level flight and turns, climbs and climbing turns,<br />

airport traffic patterns, collision avoidance, winds hear avoidance, and<br />

wake turbulence avoidance, descents, flight at various airspeeds, stall<br />

entries from various flight attitudes and power combinations, emergency<br />

procedures, ground reference maneuvers, approaches to a landing area<br />

with simulated engine malfunctions, slips to a landing, and go-arounds.<br />

A written exam must be completed and reviewed by the instructor<br />

before authorization to conduct a solo flight can be given. Special fees<br />

for flight instruction and aircraft rental must be paid by students. (20-50)<br />

AFT 106 Primary Pilot Flight Training II 3 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: AFT 105 with a “C” (2.0) minimum grade and coordinator<br />

permission. Provides knowledge, skills, and aeronautical experience<br />

necessary to meet the requirements for the FAA Practical Test Standards-<br />

Private Pilot Airplane Single-engine land. Includes pilotage and dead<br />

reckoning, navigation systems and radar services, diversions, and lost<br />

procedures, and cross-country flights, night preparation, night takeoffs<br />

and landings, and night cross-country flight and high performance<br />

takeoffs and landings. (20-25)<br />

AFT 201W Instrument Pilot Ground Training 4 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: AFT 101 or equivalent and coordinator permission.<br />

Prepares students for Federal Aviation Administration Instrument-<br />

Rating-Airplane knowledge test leading to the addition of an instrument<br />

rating to a Private or Commercial Pilot Airman Certificate.Emphasizes<br />

airplane instruments, air traffic control, Federal Aviation Regulations,<br />

instrument flight operations, en route and approach charts, and IFR trip<br />

planning and navigation, aviation weather, and flight physiology. (60-0)<br />

AFT 202 Aviation Meteorology 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Focuses on fundamental weather processes impactingaviation. Includes<br />

sources for weather data important for flight planning including<br />

text observations and forecasts, graphical charts and analyses, and<br />

radar. Emphasizes weather-related hazards to aviation including<br />

thunderstorms. (30-0)<br />

AFT 210 Commercial Pilot Ground Training 4 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: AFT 101 with a “C” (2.0) grade minimum or equivalent<br />

and coordinator permission. Prepares students for Federal Aviation<br />

Administration Commercial Pilot knowledge test required for<br />

a Commercial Pilot Airman Certificate. Includes airplanes and<br />

aerodynamics, airplane performance, aircraft instruments, engines and<br />

systems, airports, airspace and Air Traffic Control, weight and balance<br />

computations, meteorology, Federal Aviation Regulations, navigation,<br />

flight physiology, and commercial flight operations. (60-0)<br />

AFT 215 Advanced Pilot Flight Training I 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: AFT 106 with a “C” (2.0) minimum grade, previous or<br />

concurrent enrollment in AFT 201 and coordinator permission. Provides<br />

student with a foundation in attitude instrument flight and instrument<br />

navigation. Prepares student for introduction of Instrument Flight<br />

Rules (IFR) enroute procedures by performing simulated instrument<br />

approaches and holding patterns. Special fees for flight instruction and<br />

aircraft rental must be paid by students. (30-26)<br />

AFT 216 Advanced Pilot Flight Training II 3 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: AFT 215 with a “C” (2.0) minimum grade and coordinator<br />

permission. Provides instruction in Instrument Flight Rules (IFR)<br />

enroute procedures with Air Traffic Control to attain proficiency level<br />

of Instrument Rated Pilot. Provides knowledge, skills, and aeronautical<br />

experience necessary to meet the requirements for the FAA Practical Test<br />

Standards - Instrument Pilot Airplane. Special fees for flight instruction<br />

and aircraft rental must be paid by students. (25-20)<br />

AFT 217 Advanced Pilot Flight Training III 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: AFT 106 with a “C” (2.0) minimum grade and coordinator<br />

permission. Includes extensive review and practice in Visual Flight<br />

Rules (VFR) cross-country procedures and maximum performance<br />

maneuvers. Special fees for flight instruction and aircraft rental must<br />

be paid by students. (35-34)<br />

AFT 218 Advanced Pilot Flight Training IV 3 Sem Hrs<br />

Prerequisite: AFT 217 with a “C” (2.0) minimum grade and coordinator<br />

permission. Develops night orientation, night cross-country procedures,<br />

complex airplane operations and precision flight maneuvers to<br />

Commercial Pilot standards. Provides knowledge, skills, and aeronautical<br />

experience necessary to meet the requirements for the FAA Practical Test<br />

Standards - Commercial Pilot Airplane. Special fees for flight instruction<br />

be earned in AGM 110 or ACD 110 or SKGM 110 or AGM 131 but not<br />

in more than one. (40-40)<br />

AGM 112W Engine Service 6 Sem Hrs<br />

Introduces the operation, maintenance, and service of GM engines for<br />

mechanical performance. Stresses proper repair techniques and diagnosis<br />

of engine noises. Credit may be earned in AGM 112 or ACD 112 or<br />

SKGM 112 or AGM 141 but not in more than one. (45-75)<br />

AGM 114 Brakes, ABS, TCS Service 5 Sem Hrs<br />

Introduces the operation, maintenance, and service of GM base brakes,<br />

anti-lock and traction control. Presents general auto lab equipment<br />

operation and stresses safety. Credit may be earned in AGM 114 or<br />

ACD 114 or SKGM 114 or AGM 132 but not in more than one. (40-60)<br />

AGM 134 Dealership Work Experience I 2 Sem Hrs<br />

Provides work experience in the operation, maintenance, and service of<br />

GM base brakes, engine mechanical and electrical systems particularly<br />

battery, charging and starting systems. Stresses general auto lab<br />

equipment operation and safety. Credit may be earned in AGM 134 or<br />

Prerequisite: AGM 134. Provides work experience in the operation,<br />

maintenance, and service of GM steering/suspension and drivability<br />

performance. Stresses basic spark, fuel, and emission control systems.<br />
