1. A grade of “C” (2.0) or better is required in all prerequisite courses.<br />

2. A minimum grade of “B” (3.0) is required in BIO 140.<br />

3. It is highly recommended that you make an appointment with the Health and Wellness Counselor to go over the prerequisites and discuss your<br />

career choice prior to starting your prerequisites.<br />

4. A maximum of 18 students will be accepted each fall semester for the Dental Hygiene courses.<br />

5. Prerequisite qualifications are: a) high school graduate or GED equivalent; b) be admitted to <strong>Delta</strong> <strong>College</strong>; c) submit to <strong>Delta</strong> <strong>College</strong> complete transcripts<br />

from high school and other colleges attended; d) successfully complete prerequisite courses; e) follow the validation procedures as outlined<br />

in Health Program procedures of this <strong>catalog</strong> once the prerequisites are completed.<br />

6. Dental Hygiene courses are offered mostly during day hours with some evening and Saturday hours, and must be taken together in the sequence<br />

shown. You must achieve a minimum “C” (2.0) grade in each Dental Hygiene course to be eligible to continue in the program.<br />

7. After enrolling in the clinical, you must have a complete physical examination, including TB and Hepatitis carrier tests. It is highly recommended that<br />

you talk to your family physician about receiving the hepatitis vaccine before you start the professional course sequence of Dental Hygiene.<br />

8. You must maintain a current Professional Rescuer CPR certification throughout your enrollment in the Dental Hygiene courses, plus you must<br />

maintain your certification to be a licensed Dental Hygienist in the State of Michigan.<br />

9. In addition to tuition, fees, and textbook costs, you must purchase laboratory coats, clinic shoes, uniform pants, safety glasses, and the Dental<br />

Hygiene Instrument Kits (additional costs approximately $2,600).<br />

10. Student re-entry procedures are printed in the handbook given to all clinical students.<br />
