1940-1949 كان المسيحيون والمسلمون، العرب والشركس، الذين ولدوا هنا والذين جاؤوا من أماكن أخرى ، يعيشون معًا وبتآخ. وألن المجتمع في بداية تكوينة، وليس ألحد ميزة أو أفضلية، فأن التفاعل كان أكثر سالمة وقوة، وهكذا بدأت عملية تفاعل وتداخل وتعاون ال تحدث إال في حاالت خاصة. فلو مر سائح في عمان خالل فترة االربعينات – وال شك أن مر الكثيرون – فإن االنطباع األول الذي يخرج به أن المدينة تعيش في كرنفال دائم من حيث المالبس واللهجات والعادات ، ألن التعدد الموجود يفوق أي مكان آخر. عبد ا لر محا ن منيف , سري ة مد ينة Christians and Muslims, Arabs and Circassians, who were born here and who come from different places, live together in harmony, no one having advantage or preference over the other. The interaction between people was stronger and more powerful but within a context of harmony and integration which is rarely found anywhere else. Any tourist passing through Amman during the 40’s would agree that, – and there is no doubt that there were many- , the first impression would be that city lived in a permanent carnival in terms of clothing, dialects and customs, because the existing diversity transgresses any other.
