Kepipox 3000
Solvent-free, UV-resistant epoxy binder
for decorative flooring solutions
Description:
Kepipox 3000 is a solvent-free, non-filled and
unpigmented 2-K epoxy with very good colour
stability.
Usage:
Especially designed and formulated binder for
quartz materials. Suitable for floorings as
exclusive stone carpets or industrial stone
floorings.
Limits:
Not recommended for:
- unsound substrates
Properties & Advantages:
• Kepipox 3000 can be mixed with quartz
because of its viscosity and other
characteristics. It only slowly sinks into
the mixed material and can be
compacted and planed easily. It is
absolutely transparent and does not
affect the colour of the mixed material.
• Attention! Kepipox 3000 does not
protect poor quality coloured quartz
from yellowing, we recommend PUcoated
quartz or natural stone.
• Kepipox 3000 is physiologically
harmless when fully cured and approved
for floorings in groceries.
• Can be applied with floor heatings.
• A slight change of colour can occur in
UV-exposed scenarios. The technical
properties of Kepipox HW 134 are not
affected by that.
Mixing:
The components resin (A) and accelerator (B) are being delivered in the correct mixing ratio. Pour the accelerator into the resin and consume the
accelerator entirely. Mix thoroughly for ca. 2 minutes using an electric drill at max. 300 rpm and make sure the temperature of the material is around
+10°C. Don't apply the material out of the pail it was delivered in, but make sure to pour it in another clean pot and mix it again thoroughly.
Application:
When applying liquid materials, the ambient temperature and above all the temperature of the substrate is of prime importance. In low temperature
scenarios, chemical reaction is delayed which results in an overall longer process. Caused by the higher viscosity, the consumption increases
accordingly. In high-temperature scenarios, chemical reaction is accelerated which results in a quicker process accordingly. For a complete hardening of
the liquid material, the average temperature of the substrate has to be higher than the minimum temperature.
When working outside, make sure that the material is protected from humidity. If humidity enters the mixture too early, it can lead to whitening and
stickyness and can cause severe problems with the adherence to the next layer and possibly has to be removed by sandjet.
Preparing the surface:
Clean the surface thoroughly, remove oil, grease and wax contaminants. Cement laitance, loose particles, mould release agents, curing membranes
must be removed. Generally a further preparation of the surface is necessary, e.g. by sandjet, jet water, grinding or milling. After preparing the surface,
the tensile strength has to be at a minimum of 1,5 N/mm 2 .
The hunidity on the surface of the concrete should not exceed 4%. The temperature of the
substrate has to be at least 3°C higher than the respective dewpoint. The surface to be coated has to be protected from ascending humidity.
Physiological characteristics and measures of protection:
The product causes no harm when fully cured. Yield the warning signs on the pail before application. In case of contact with the skin, immediately clean
thoroughly with plenty of soap and water. In a non-fully-cured state, the components must not get into canalisation, waterbodies or soil. Spilled
material is immediately to be cleaned up, e.g. with sawdust. The pails are to be treated according to applying laws regarding waste and recycling.
Cleaning:
Clean tools and apparel thoroughly with solvent after each workstep
Examples of Use and Consuption:
1. Sealing of cement surfaces:
1.1 Preparing of substrate (see above)
1.2 Priming: Apply Kepipox HW 114 with a foam rubber spatula and distribute evenly by rolling, consumption: ca. 300-500 g/m 2 according to
absorbency. Sprinkle with quartz, grain size: 0,3 – 0,8 mm
1.3 Mixture: depending on grain size, mix Kepipox 3000 with quartz for several minutes, then distribute on the floor and compact with trueing device.
For more details regarding the application techniques please contact us.
1.4 As needed: Surface finish: after curing of the mixture (max. 24h) paint the quartz surface with Kepipox 3000 in crosswise layering. Consumption: ca.
250-400 g/m 2 according to grain size and porosity of the substrate. The finished flooring should only be cleaned by vaccuum cleaner or by wet
floorcloth. If a deep cleansing is needed, please contact us for information on companies which offer this as a service or rent out the appropriate
machines.
