1911-64 Halfpenny Series. Rightly
considered a great Australian rarity, this
iconic copper coin is especially rare in the
upper echelons of quality, as presented here.
Most authorities estimate that a mere 15,000
examples of the 1923 Halfpenny were struck following
problems the Mint experienced with its 1923 dies,
with significantly less in existence today. As Australia’s
lowest denomination, suffering a high circulation rate,
the 1923 Halfpenny is usually only found in well-worn
condition, making the chance to secure this key date in
about Extremely Fine condition very important indeed.

1937, virtually all of Australia’s original
predecimal designs were replaced with

the halfpenny, the changeover to the new
Bounding Roo design did not take place until

Indeed, with just 782,000 examples struck, the 1939
Bounding Roo Halfpenny is one of the lowest mintage
George VI dates – and a key to the 1911-64 Halfpenny
Series. Extremely scarce regardless of the grade, this
crucial 76-year-old WWII copper icon is unquestionably rare

Erichsen Silver Threepence available –
in about Uncirculated quality!
One of very few Traders Tokens struck
from silver, this issue was created by Sydney
jewellers Hogarth & Erichsen – in part to alleviate
the lack of small change in the colony, and in part as a
form of advertising. The jewellers created several different
types, but none were issued in great number.
With most of those struck lost or melted for the silver in
the 150+ years that have passed, the 1858 Hogarth &
Erichsen Silver 3d is rare in any grade – and exceptionally
rare in aUnc!
