file is compiled, along with lab assignments,<br />
which builds skills working with materials as<br />
they are applied to interiors and working with a<br />

Surveys the progression of European and<br />
American architecture, decorative arts and<br />
furniture styles of the 18th century through the<br />
20th century. Identification of modern design in<br />

Architectural Graphics 4<br />

Introduces architectural tools, symbols and<br />
scale drawings. Basic skills mastered include<br />
architectural lettering, dimensioning, plan<br />
drawing types, schedules and overlay methods<br />
of blueprinting. Field-measuring skills are<br />
integrated into required lab activities. Material<br />
samples are swatched and color schemed<br />
according to project requirements in the lab.<br />
Presentation skills learned include swatchboard<br />
construction. Floor plan and elevation color<br />
rendering of material samples will be prepared<br />
to communicate a color scheme to a client.<br />
Attendance and time management skills are<br />
developed in this course that ensure projects<br />
are completed by the due date.<br />

Intro to Interpreting 3<br />

Provides a history of interpreting as well as an<br />
overview of interpreting as a profession. Topics<br />
include the interpreting environment,<br />
professional ethics and certification,<br />
interpreting in educational and community<br />
settings, and the physical, psychological and<br />
health aspects of interpreting. The influence of<br />
the cultural context on the success of the<br />
interpreting process is explored. Students are<br />
introduced to pantomime and its use in<br />
language expression in a visual mode.<br />

Social Aspects of Deaf Culture 3<br />

Introduces aspects of diversity within the deaf<br />
community in America, Canada and<br />
internationally. Students become familiar with<br />
social structure, the history of deafness and the<br />

including the evolution of education of the<br />
deaf. Students become familiar with legislation<br />
that impacts the deaf in America. Discusses<br />
definition of deafness and impact on culture.<br />

history and relationships of different sign<br />
