Includes goals of psychosocial rehabilitation,<br />

and categories and classification of Axis I<br />

Psychiatric Disorders. Describes the process of<br />

making appropriate client referrals, locating<br />

community human service resources and<br />

agencies, and creating and implementing<br />

service plans for health care issues.<br />

Examines alcohol and drug issues and the<br />

implications of having an addiction. Includes<br />

and therapeutic skills used with individuals in<br />

inpatient and outpatient settings. Focuses on<br />

the impact of the family unit, social systems<br />

and the greater community. Students apply<br />

their knowledge of integrated practice in a<br />

discipline-specific project.<br />

Human Svs Field Exp/Seminar 6<br />

Places the student in a Human Services agency<br />

for 220 hours. The experience is discussed as a<br />

seminar, the purpose of which is to maximize<br />

the experience by gaining insights from the<br />

other students and the instructor. These<br />

insights should enable the students to objectify<br />

their experience.<br />

Introduces students to the study of popular<br />

culture. Analyzes the way in which human<br />

beings interact with popular culture, both as<br />

individuals and as part of the larger society. The<br />

course also examines a wide variety of popular<br />

texts to illustrate the ways in which they reflect<br />

and perhaps shape cultural values. Through<br />

this process, students develop skills for the<br />

critical analysis of advertising, television<br />

programs, comic books, and interactive<br />

multimedia, among other forms of popular<br />

culture.<br />
