Focuses on the methods and technologies of<br />
film art. The emphasis is on analysis of classic<br />
narrative films. Subjects for analysis include<br />

breakdown, elements of mise-en-scene<br />
and montage, auteurs, genres, production<br />
considerations, and conventions.<br />

Film Topics 3<br />

Offers in-depth study of various topics in film<br />
studies. Some topics offered are the study of<br />
genre theory, specific genres, film adaptation<br />
of literature and drama, moral themes and<br />
documentary film. All film topics will study the<br />
relationship between the topic and culture,<br />
identify operating principles and relevant<br />
contextual forces, and apply these concepts to<br />
the study of specific films. Course may be<br />
repeated for credit.<br />

Intro to Play Analysis 3<br />

interpretation and analysis of dramatic texts. It<br />

through discussion and written analysis.<br />
Students gain an understanding of the<br />
important role that dramatic analysis plays<br />
when mounting a production in the theatre.<br />

Technical Theatre 4<br />

Provides information on and experience with<br />
the materials, tools, equipment, and techniques<br />
of manual drafting, scenery construction and<br />
painting, stage lighting, costuming, and makeup.<br />
Hands-on experience with each of the areas<br />
of study is emphasized. Students are required<br />
to work on the technical aspects for one<br />
<strong>Kirkwood</strong> production. The course is designed<br />
to produce students who have a working<br />
knowledge of the basic techniques of producing<br />
a live performance. The course is open to all<br />

course meets part of the requirement for the<br />
Iowa Paraeducator Generalist Certification.<br />

mainstreaming of students with disabilities<br />

of learners and adapting curriculum and<br />
materials. The course includes an overview of<br />
the special education system and the evolving<br />
relationship with regular education. Issues<br />
related to adults with disabilities are discussed.<br />

Studies the educational, cultural, and social<br />
aspects of children and adults who are<br />
exceptional in the context of mental, emotional<br />

Culturally/Ling Diverse Children 3<br />

Prepares staff to work with culturally and<br />
linguistically diverse children, including<br />

methodology, appropriate translation and<br />
interpretation procedures, and communication<br />
with team members. Participants work<br />
collaboratively and individually to develop<br />
