Identifies the techniques of managing the<br />
thoroughbred racehorse. Describes the basic<br />
care of the thoroughbred including feeding,<br />
veterinary, farrier and conditioning practices.<br />
Identifies special techniques, which include<br />
taking temperature, pulse, respiration, X-rays,<br />
blood counts and pre-race preparation.<br />
Interpretation and analysis of thoroughbred<br />
pedigrees and racetrack operations are taught.<br />
Some course time may be spent at a racetrack.<br />

maneuvers were used in cavalry units of Iowa<br />
