Currently, Ross performs with Trio Céleste, with pianist Kevin Kwan Loucks and violinist Iryna Krechkovsky. Solo performances have included concerto appearances with the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra, the Michigan Youth Arts Festival Orchestra, the Birmingham- Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra, and the Rochester Symphony Orchestra, and a performance of his own five-cello arrangement of Vivaldi’s Summer from The Four Seasons at the Cleveland Cello Society. Ross has concertized and taught internationally, including venues in China, Japan, England, Australia, France, and Canada, and has performed alongside members of the Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Korean-American pianist Kevin Kwan Loucks has performed in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Prösels Castle in Italy, Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Lichtenstein Palace in Prague, and Aspen’s Harris Concert Hall, where he was featured on National Public Radio’s Performance Today. He is a founding member of the New York-based Trio Céleste, was recently appointed Artists-in-Residence at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at the University of California, Irvine, and is also a member of Gruppo Montebello, a newly formed all-star ensemble consisting of acclaimed Banff Centre faculty and alumni directed by Henk Guittart. Loucks has performed as soloist with the South Orange County Chamber Orchestra, UCI Symphony Orchestra, and Bratislava Chamber Orchestra in Austria. He has been featured as guest artist at the Laguna Beach Chamber Music Festival, Daejeon Chamber Music Festival in South Korea, Moulin d’Andé in France, and Montreal Chamber Music Festival in Canada. He is currently Principal Artist-in-Residence for the International Arts Mentoring Program in South Korea, a program created by the Education and Culture Association of Seoul dedicated to bringing music performance and arts education to underprivileged children throughout Asia and Europe. He was also elected by The Orange County Great Park Corporation for its pilot six-month residency program. He is a graduate of The Juilliard School and the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at UC Irvine. He is currently completing his doctor of musical arts degree at Stony Brook University, where he served as Head of Piano for the Pre-College Division and Teaching Assistant for both the Emerson String Quartet and the Graduate Chamber Music Program.
Stephen Tucker is conductor of UCI’s Symphony Orchestra and Associate Professor in music, teaching conducting, orchestration, and analysis at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts. Tucker’s performances at the school include symphonic concerts, opera presentations and performances with the Dance Department. Before joining the faculty at UCI he pursued his doctoral studies at UCLA, where he was conductor of the Musical Theatre Workshop and assistant conductor for Opera UCLA. Prior to that, he held positions as music director of the Neumark Ensemble, a Southern California chamber orchestra and chorale, and the Southern California Young Artists’ Symphony, leading numerous concert performances with both organizations. Maestro Tucker has made conducting appearances in Bratislava, Slovakia, Budapest, Hungary, and, most recently, in Taipei, Taiwan. His five-week Taiwan stint was the inaugural exchange between National Taiwan Normal University and UCI, as part of a new “Sister School Agreement” between the two universities. In Taiwan, Tucker taught conducting and performed in the famed National Concert Hall in Taipei. In 2005, Maestro Tucker made his Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center debut, conducting Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy and Ravel’s Concerto for the Left Hand. He has made additional appearances in the U.S. as either guest conductor or cover conductor for the Los Angeles Master Chorale, the Long Beach Symphony, and the Pacific Symphony. Dr. Tucker’s varied musical background and repertoire, equally rich in choral and symphonic works, make him a sought-after conductor for orchestral concerts and opera presentations. He holds diplomas from the Vienna Conservatory, The International Conductors’ Institute, and The Conductors’ Institute at Hartt School of Music; a bachelor of music degree from Thayer Conservatory (Atlantic Union College), and both a master’s and doctor of musical arts degrees from UCLA.
