of capacity is volume (e.g. cubic meters)<br />

If vessel uses some other form of refrigeration, please describe and<br />

include the capacity.<br />

Waste Management: Check all methods of waste (rubbish) management used by the vessel<br />

and list types of materials for each. For example, plastics may be disposed on shore and<br />

galley food waste may be thrown overboard.<br />

Purse Seine: Complete this section only if this trip was on board a purse seine vessel. For<br />

each device, circle yes or no for whether the device was present on board, record a usage<br />

code (same definitions as Electronics section), and provide additional <strong>com</strong>ments as<br />

necessary.<br />

Device that automatically feeds the purse rings onto a drum<br />

or other apparatus during gear retrieval. Also referred to as<br />

hairpin.<br />

Record the number of functional speed boats on board and<br />

their engine power (e.g., 3: 45, 45, 65 hp).<br />

Did the vessel have a raft or personal watercraft for assisting<br />

with the release of marine mammals?<br />

This may be in addition to radar above.<br />

Record the make/model of any net measuring<br />

equipment/sensors the vessel used to detect the shape of the<br />

net when deployed.<br />

Ask the captain if there is a person on board who will act as<br />

a diver for the release of marine mammals. Was a diver ever<br />

used to rescue dolphins or other marine mammals from net?<br />

Was the vessel equipped with a high-intensity floodlight and<br />

was it in operable condition. This is important if setting on<br />

dolphins and retrieval extends into night.<br />

Circle type: aircraft or helicopter or none. Also provide the<br />

manufacturer, model, registration number, and range (in<br />

kilometers) it can fly without returning to the vessel.<br />

Trawl: Complete this section only if this trip was on board a shrimp or finfish trawl vessel.<br />

For each device, circle yes or no for whether the device was present on board, record a usage<br />

code, manufacturer and model, and provide additional <strong>com</strong>ments as necessary.<br />

Bottom contact sensor<br />

Used to monitor footrope or door contact with bottom.<br />
