OVERVIEW OF EDUCATIONAL STATISTICS 

IN HUNTERDON COUNTY 

The Hunterdon County Office of the New Jersey State 

Department of Education functions as a State-County 

coordinating agency charged with responsible educational 

leadership in the county. 

The County (437 square miles - 26 municipalities - 128,349 

population per 2010 census) has 30 school districts (4 regional 

high school districts, 1 vocational school, 1 alternative school, 1 

regional elementary district, and 23 elementary districts) with 

approximately 21,859 pupils. 

The 30 school districts include 50 school buildings and employ 

approximately 3,444 full instructional, supervisory and administrative 

positions. Local school budgets prepared for the 2012- 

2013 school year total $397,637,875. 

All school districts are engaged in improving curriculum and 

increasing professional development opportunities. There has 

been a marked expansion of offerings in alternative and special 

needs education, adult education, new courses and 

methodologies in the general curriculum, facility planning and 

vocational-technical education.

Clinton-Glen Gardner School District 

Clinton Public School is a pre-kindergarten through grade eight elementary school located in the historic Town 

of Clinton in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The school serves approximately 500 students from the Town of 

Clinton and the Borough of Glen Gardner. CPS is a dynamic, progressive, and caring school that values the 

positive support it receives from parents and the community. The mission of Clinton Public School is to inspire 

our students to become contributing members of society who are independent, innovative, life-time learners 

equipped with the necessary skills to meet the demands of our ever-changing world. 

Our K-8 core subjects are taught with the “21st century learning” framework in mind; we believe students need 

factual knowledge and skills and need to build critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration skills 

for success. A variety of arts, athletics, co-curricular and character education programs enable our students to 

receive a comprehensive, well-rounded educational experience.
