11th Annual Rx Mixer Presents: Rewind Back To The 80s

Lots of blue eye shadow, acid washed jeans with popped-up shirt collars, fingerless lace gloves, giant hair bows, and layers of beaded necklaces are totally tubular once again for Rewind: Back to the 80s— the theme for IACP Foundation’s 11th Annual Rx Mixer, a fundraising event to be held in conjunction with IACP’s 21st Annual Compounders on Capitol Hill (CCH)! Event Co-Chairs, Erin Michael, MBA, CPhT and Richard Harwood, CPhT, with their Live Auction, and Big Board Committees, plan to raise more than $200,000 through sponsorships and the auction to benefit IACP Foundation! A Message from IACP Foundation’s President – Lisa Ashworth, BS Pharm, RPh
Welcome to the 11th Annual Rx Mixer, Rewind: Back to the 80s, benefiting the IACP Foundation! On behalf
of the entire IACP Foundation Board and Rx Mixer Committee, thank you for your commitment, time and
effort to support the only foundation established to benefit pharmacy compounding.
As we gather again with our colleagues and friends, we want to emphasize that Rx Mixer is much more
than a fun party. This event is one of the primary ways we have to fund a vitally important mission – to
support the quality, integrity, and advancement of pharmacy compounding and its practitioners for the
benefit of patients.
Why should you contribute to the IACP Foundation?
Very simply, you are helping to ensure the future of compounding….
By supporting the
IACP Foundation,
you are helping
to facilitate the
advancement
of patient care
through pharmacy
compounding.
Through education
and research, the
Foundation will
foster the pursuit
of excellence
in pharmacy
compounding with
the strategic use
of its resources.
The IACP Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational foundation and serves as the charitable extension
of IACP with a mission to fund research and educational initiatives to advance the art and science of
pharmacy compounding.
Each year, the IACP Foundation’s activities include:
n Funding innovative programs and research initiatives that enhance the quality, safety, responsiveness,
and credibility of pharmacy compounding;
n Encouraging curricular endorsement of the fundamental proficiencies essential to compounding
pharmacists through alliances with educational institutions and accreditation bodies; and
n Sponsoring public education programs that aspire to acquaint health care professionals and the public
with the services and issues related to pharmacy compounding.
This year’s total Rx Mixer fundraising goal is $200,000. We need your help to achieve this milestone!
Your support and involvement is crucial in raising funds for the IACP Foundation so that we can continue
the good works we started more than 10 years ago. Since 2005, the IACP Foundation has awarded more
than $275,000 for studies researching compounded preparation potency and stability and outcomes of
treatment with compounded medications. Your generous contributions enable us to continue funding
these projects.
So, travel back to the 80s with us! Dress in your hippest, loudest, biggest, gaudiest and brightest
threads, and join us for dinner, dancing, cocktails, casino games and fabulous Live Auction and
Big Board. We hope you enjoy your evening as we join together to support our beloved profession!
initiatives that advance the art and science of pharmacy compounding. The IACP Foundation Research Committee
was formed in June 2004 and is responsible for defining the Foundation’s annual research agenda, to foster IACP
Foundation’s mission by seeking and recommending research projects for funding that promote and advance
pharmacy compounding. This Committee is even more important than ever before as we help document the value
of customized medication services through demonstration grants, stability studies, practice-based research
initiatives and more.
Since 2005, IACP Foundation has awarded more than $275,000 in grants to academicians and practitioners.
1006. Exakt 50EC Plus Ointment Mill
For producing truly elegant preparations of creams, ointments or gels there is no tool more effective or more complete than an
ointment mill. And now the EXAKT 50 EC+ delivers more control in making that elegant preparation. The process happening in
those gaps is a function of the precise narrowness of the gaps and the speed at which the rollers turn against each other. The
new 50EC+ with variable speed now increases that control. The benefits continue with an ointment mill that’s so easy to clean.
Removing and replacing the rollers is a “snap.” With the 50EC+, you can remove its fully submersible solid rollers – take them
to the sink, clean them thoroughly and then replace them. This cuts down on cleaning time and cross contamination between
products. Most importantly, the alignment of the gaps is maintained.
CUSTOMIZED PHARMACY
ACCREDITATION
TION
PCAB has joined with ACHC to offer a complete
pharmacy accreditation solution, providing a strong
foundation to:
Demonstrate your
commitment to quality.
Create distinction among
competition.
Drive continuous
1012. ACHC/PCAB Accreditation Fees
Richie’s Specialty Pharmacy (RSP) will donate up
to $5,000 towards ACHC/Pharmacy Compounding
Accreditation Board (PCAB)-accreditation fees for
any pharmacy wishing to undertake the process. The
monies would have to be paid directly to ACHC/PCAB
and not to the pharmacy. This amount is anticipate to
cover 1st year fees (plus travel fees for surveyor) for
ACHC/PCAB accreditation.
As the demand for compounded medications has
increased, the pharmaceutical profession strongly
believed that a system of standards by which each
compounding pharmacy could test its quality
processes was required. Compounding pharmacists
also wanted a mechanism to allow them to know
that they are producing a high quality compound,
and in doing so, providing the best quality to their
patients. PCAB Accreditation provides patients,
prescribers and payers with a way to select a
pharmacy that meets or exceeds the United States
Pharmacopeial Convention’s (USP’s) high quality
standards. www.achc.org
