Minister of National Defence
of Vietnam calls on PM
New Delhi, Minister of National Defence of Vietnam, Gen. Phùng Quang
Thanh, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Modi
recalled the successful visit of H. E. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of
Vietnam, to India in October 2014. Gen. Thanh briefed Prime Minister Modi
about defence and security related developments in the India-Vietnam bilateral
relationship. Prime Minister Modi expressed satisfaction at the progress
made in bilateral defence and security cooperation since the visit of Prime
Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

“There are fears that one more layer
even though non-executive position
may lead to some kind of inefficiencies.

delay in decision making and other
impediments in the growth and
expansion of the bank unlike private
sector”, said Mr. D S Rawat,

opinion between chairman and CEO
could get delayed. Delay in sanctioning
loan would have adverse
impact on the industry, said Mr.

economy may get choked due to
want of fund and subsequently lead
to slowdown of the GDP growth.

Deceased Nepalese Soldiers to
Langtang Valley to Pay Homage
New Delhi, On 25 Apr 15, a massive earthquake struck Nepal. Close to the Langtang helipad was a post
of the Nepalese Army consisting of 10 Army personnel. After the earthquake all the ten were untraceable.
Although, a mission was carried on 06 May 2015 out to retrieve the bodies, they could not be identified
due to injuries and decomposition. On 23 May 15, a special airlift by an IAF Mi17 V5 helicopter was
arranged for Next of Kin(NOK) and Close relatives of the deceased persons to visit the remains of the post
and pay homage. Fourteen relatives and two escorts were taken to Dhunche. From there, seven of them
were flown to the place where the post was manned prior to the earthquake to pay homage. The helicopters
remained with rotors on idle power and returned in 15 mins time with the people who had tears in the eyes.
They also brought back small belongings of the deceased and soil. They boarded the helicopter and were
brought to Dhunche. Similarly, another Seven Next of Kins were taken to the same place and back. This
load limitation was due to the altitude of landing. Group Captain Basant B Pande was on board in the first
trip and Major Sandesh Rokde was onboard the second trip.

are 6 reservoirs in this region
having total storage capacity
of 18.01 BCM. The total
storage available in these
reservoirs is 7.63 BCM
which is 42% of total storage
capacity of these reservoirs.
The storage during corresponding
period of last year
was 39% and average storage
of last ten years during
corresponding period was
28% of live storage capacity
of these reservoirs. Thus,
storage during current year is
better than the corresponding
period of last year and is also
better than the average storage
of last ten years during
the corresponding period.
EASTERN REGION : The
Eastern region includes
States of Jharkhand, Odisha,
West Bengal and Tripura.
There are 15 reservoirs in
this region having total storage
capacity of 18.83 BCM.
The total storage available in
these reservoirs is 6.76 BCM
which is 36% of total storage
capacity of these reservoirs.
The storage during corresponding
period of last year
was 41% and average storage
of last ten years during
corresponding period was
20% of storage capacity of
these reservoirs. Thus, storage
during current year is

WESTERN REGION : The

Government committed to boost food
processing through development of Cold Chain
New Delhi, Minister for Food Processing Industries Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal inaugurated the National Cold Chain Summit
organized by Indian Chamber of Commerce, today at Gangtok. Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Badal stated that the Union
Government was committed to address the challenges of insufficient infrastructure leading to huge wastage, undue advantage
to middlemen at the cost of farmers remuneration and to develop an efficient cold chain infrastructure to link the farmer to
the consumer seamlessly. Addressing the gathering, Smt. Badal stated that India is one of the largest producer of milk, fruits
and vegetables, marine products, meat and poultry and that there is an urgent need to create adequate cold chain capacity in
the country for preventing wastage. The Food Processing Minister further informed that the scheme for Cold chain, Value
Addition and Preservation Infrastructure provides financial assistance up to Rs. 10 crore for entrepreneurs. A total of 138 integrated
cold chain projects were approved by the Government, which includes 30 new cold chain projects sanctioned recently
for implementation and would attract an investment of Rs. 470 Crores and 108 projects are under the implementation by the
Ministry. Of these, 52 projects have already achieved completion and commenced commercial operation. It is expected that
operationalization of these 138 projects would create capacity of (a) 4.76 lakh MT of Cold Storage, Controlled Atmosphere
(CA)/ Modified Atmosphere (MA) Storage, Deep Freezer (b) 118.5 MT per hour of individual Quick Freezing (IQF) (c)
118.05 lakh litres per day (LLPD) of milk processing and storage and (d) 810 number of reefer carriers.
