On the second day of his official visit to the State
of Jammu & Kashmir, the Honorable Raksha
Mantri Shri Manohar Parrikar visited the forward
areas in the Rajouri Sector, today. The Minister

Fourth Meeting of the Board of Trustees India
Development Foundation of Overseas Indians (IDF-
OI) in Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan New Delhi. The
Secretary, Overseas Indian Affairs, Shri Sunil Soni
was also be present in the meeting. The Board of
Trustees of India Development Foundation of
and social projects. The Trust has a two-tier structure
comprising the Board of Trustees and the Executive
Directorate. The Foundation is chaired by the Minister
of Overseas Indian Affairs.
The broad objectives of the Trust are:
1. Lead overseas Indian philanthropy into India and
facilitate partnerships through single window facilitation
and by building philanthropic partnerships.

2. Establish and maintain a ‘Social Capital and
Philanthropy Network’ on India that can provide a list
of credible institutions, projects and programmes.
3. Function as a clearing house for all philanthropy
related information on India.
4. Partner with and encourage credible philanthropic
organisations in the sectors that best match need based
philanthropy.
5. Promote accountability and ‘good practices’ in
overseas Indian philanthropy.
IDF-OI is partnering with international, national and
state level NGOs as well as State Governments and
local self government institutions, for effective implementation.
33 NGOs (Non- Governmental
Organizations who are FCRA approved by MHA)
from 7 States have officially confirmed their participation
to IDF- OI with their projects. These projects
cover a wide gamut of activities such as skills development,
local self governance, education for children,
health initiatives, sustainable agriculture and livelihood
creation, vocational training programmes, programmes
for visually challenged and differently abled
children among others. Besides these, State
Governments have also confirmed their participation
to IDF-OI. Since 2011, IDF-OI has helped in channelizing
contributions from overseas donors towards
social development projects in Assam, Rajasthan and
Gujarat in the areas of water conservation, rainwater
months. He also interacted with the local
Commanders and troops deployed in the area who
apprised him on the prevailing security dynamics
on the Line of Control. Former Afghan President
Mr Hamid Karzai calls on the Prime Minister
Former President of Afghanistan Mr Hamid
Karzai, during his transit halt in New Delhi, called
on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today.
They discussed the recent developments in
Afghanistan. Prime Minister reiterated that India
and Afghanistan share age old ties. India deeply

build a united, stable, democratic and prosperous

The India Development Foundation of Overseas
Indians (IDF-OI) is a not for profit Trust established to
serve as a credible institutional avenue to enable overseas
Indians to engage in philanthropy to supplement
India’s social development efforts. IDF-OI channelises
the philanthropic propensities and resources of the
overseas Indian community into national development
harvesting, educating and mainstreaming differently
abled children, women’s education and sustainable
livelihood. The meeting of the Board of Trustees
decided the action plan for FY 2015-16, which focuses
on various Projects including collaboration with Govt.
of India’s flagship programmes like Namami Gange,
Swachh Bharat and Swachh Vidyalaya, State
Governments projects and NGO projects and Projects
selected by the NRI/PIO donors. Modalities like
Implementation of projects and Quality control,
Monitoring and reporting to donors were also deliberated
and given go-ahead by the board of trustees. The
Board also deliberated on the Outreach plan for FY
2015-16. For the Outreach Plan for FY 2015-16, IDF-
OI proposes to hold outreach meeting wherein overseas
Indians will be informed about the activities of
the organization and projects will be posed for funding.
These meetings will have to be done in association
with our Missions/ Posts, as also in the various
Indian associations active abroad.
Delhi Jal Board Achievements in
100 Days of AAP Government
Sh. Arvind Kejriwal, Hon'ble CM of Delhi and Sh.
Manish Sisodia, Hon'ble Dy. CM and Chairperson
DJB were presented a compilation of "100
Achievements in 100 Days'' of the Delhi Jal Board, by
Sh. Kapil Mishra, Vice Chairman, and Sh. S.S. Yadav,
CEO, Delhi Jal Board on the occasion of completion
of 100 Days in office of the Delhi Government.
While accepting the compilation, Sh. Arvind
Kejriwal, Hon'ble CM of Delhi said, " I commend
Delhi Jal Board for their achievements in the water
charged around Rs.14000 to regularize a water connection
which has now been reduced to Rs.3310/-.
One of the most important achievements of DJB, has
been the commissioning of the 50 Million Gallons per
Day (MGD) capacity Dwarka Water Treatment Plant
(constructed in 2011) which was commissioned on
the 1st March 2015 benefitting about 13.5 lakh residents
of Dwarka sub city, Najafgarh, Daulatpur,
Ujwa, and adjoining areas. DJB has taken over the
water and sewer services of Dwarka Sub City from
South-West and West districts for improvement of
water supply. New water pipelines in a length of 24
Kilometers have been laid during this period. 42
Kilometers of old and rusted water line replaced to
improve water supply and avoid contamination. In
water deficient areas 78 more tankers have been
deployed. 4 Water ATMs installed in Narela,
Shahbad Daulatpur, Holambi and Dwarka to ensure
adequate drinking water availability. DJB has also
been awarded for best water management through
peripheral network submitted to Ministry of Urban
Development for providing funds under “Urban
Development Fund”.
Sewage treatment has been increased from 370 MGD
to 410 MGD. The 20 MGD capacity Sewage treatment
plant at Nilothi commissioned. 25 MGD capacity
Sewage Treatment Plant has been completed and
commissioned at Yamuna Vihar. 15 MGD capacity
Rohini STP has been commissioned. All new STPs
are being set up with latest technology for higher
and waste water sector in this short period of time. I
hope the Board will continue to meet the aspirations
of the people of Delhi in the future as well". Speaking
on the occasion, Sh. Manish Sisodia, Hon'ble
Dy. CM, Delhi and Chairperson DJB said that " I am
confident that DJB will continue to meet the challenges
of providing water and waste water to the capital
city and improve upon their present performance".
DJB has met the commitment of the
Government for supply of free water, upto 20 kiloliters
a month (about 700 liters a day) to the citizens
of Delhi w.e.f. 1st March 2015. This has benefited
around 10.5 lakh consumers including residents of
co-operative group housing societies. Major relief
has been extended to the residents of unauthorized
colonies by reducing Water development charges in
unauthorized colonies from Rs 440/sq meter to Rs
100/sq meter. Further relief provided to residents of
unauthorized colonies by reducing sewer development
charges as well, from Rs. 494/sq meter to Rs.
100/sq meter i.e. a reduction of 80%. Permission
obtained from GNCT of Delhi for laying of water
supply network in 237 more unauthorized colonies.
Work will be taken up in these colonies immediately.
Liberalized scheme launched for regularization of
unauthorized water connections. Earlier citizens were
DDA and is working on improvement of these services.
By taking over these services from DDA, residents
of Dwarka have already been benefitted by way
of improved services. Further, the monthly water bill
of the Dwarka residents has been reduced as the DJB
tariff is lower than DDA tariff. The Bawana Water
Treatment Plant of 20 MGD capacity, was constructed
in 2002 and commissioned on 21st April 2015,
benefiting about 6 lakh residents of the nearby rural
villages and adjoining areas. The Bawana UGR was
also commissioned on 21st April 2015, benefiting
about 2 lakh people under its command. Filtered
water supply has been extended to the villages and
unauthorized colonies in the command of Bawana
WTP in place of ground water. The Janakpuri Under
Ground Reservoir (UGR) and booster pumping station
of 15.5 ML capacity (constructed in 2011) was
commissioned on 1st March 2015. This has benefitted
about 1.80 lakh people. Piped water supply has also
been extended to Mahavir Nagar, Krishna Park &
Ganesh Nagar in Tilak Nagar. This has benefitted
around 60000 people of this area. The Shalimar Park
UGR and Booster Pumping Station of 7 ML capacity
was commissioned on 18th February 2015 benefiting
about 70,000 residents of Shalimar Park and Old
Shahdara. 21 Tube wells have been bored in South,
water ATMs in water deficit areas. Through concerted
efforts, water production increased from 835
MGD to 870 MGD improving water supply in different
parts of Delhi. Special drive launched for detection
of hidden and surface leakages. 150 leakages
identified and plugged saving lakhs of liters of water.
To prevent sewage flow into river and drains, the
work of Interceptor Sewer Project was taken up.
Progress of the project expedited, overall 75%
progress of the Interceptor Sewer project has been
achieved. Package-1 of Interceptor sewer and part of
package-2 has been commissioned diverting thereby
30-35 MGD of sewage from drains to Sewage
Treatment Plants (STPs) which will reduce pollution
level in River Yamuna. The trial run of the 15 MGD
capacity STP being set up at the mouth of Delhi Gate
drain started. It will treat sewage coming from walled
city area. A comprehensive action plan prepared costing
Rs.3659 crores for trapping all wastewater falling
in the Najafgarh and Supplementary drain. It comprises
of setting up 15 Sewage Pumping Station, 3
SPS, trunk sewer and related projects. Project report
for projects amounting to Rs.1666 crores prepared
and submitted for financial assistance to National
Mission on Clean Ganga for funding. Project report
