This book deals with the syncretistic practice of the
mainstream churches throughout church history. In
graphic detail the origins of various non-Scriptural
practicesthatfoundtheirwayintomainstreamChristianity
arediscussed,revealingtheirpag anorigins.
Easter, Christmas, Sunday,the symbol of the Cross, the
Christ monogram and many more are discussed in this
classicwhichhasalreadymadeanimpactworld-wide.

REVISION PROCESS OF "THE
SCRIPTURES”
Thefirsteditiontooksevenyearstocompleteandwas
publishedattheendof1993.Thistranslationdifferedfrom
traditionaltranslationsinthatitfollowedthetradition found
in the Aquila fragments, where the Name was not
translated, but retained in the Hebrew characters
unaltered.
It became clear in 1997 that the demand for the
translation was growing worldwid eas more and more
orderswerereceived.Bytheendof1997thefirstprintingof
"The Scriptures” was virtually depleted and the decision
was takentoprintthesecondeditionin1998.
Changestothetext
The review process of "The Scriptures” is adynamic
processthatwillcontinueinordertoimprovethequalityof
thetranslation.Theeditorialcommitteemeetsregularlyto
review proposals for revision and improvement of “The
Scriptures.”
ControversialText
Changes to the text that can be controversial will be
discussed through an open forum in this newsletter. The
editorsof"TheScriptures”inviteaswideaspossiblearange
o fscholarlyinputforconsideration.
DiscussionPaperssubmittedfortextualconsiderationmay
be published at the discretion of the Editor for further
discussionandinput.
NON-DOCTRINALNATURE
In1997theISR
resolvedstronglytoadoptandasserta
non-doctrinalMessianicposition.ThefocusoftheISR
isto
be on textual research. Thus notes and footnotes are
being reviewed and modified, or removed where
necessary,inordertoconformtothisposition.
Theintentionof“TheScriptures”istomakeavailabletothe
reader,atranslationasliteralaspossible,leavingdoctrinal
interpretations as far as possible t o the readers
themselves.
Becauseofthisnon-doctrinalposition,the“ ISRNewsletter ”
willpublisharticlesthatarguedifferingpointsofview.These
viewpoints will not necessarily reflect the views of the “ ISR
Newsletter”orthe“ ISR .”

Duetotheoverwhelmingsupportof"TheScriptures”(1st
Edition, 1993) from the U.S.A. and Canada, the ISR
decided to review its printing and distribution strategy for
the next printing (1998/2nd Edition - Revised) of "The
Scriptures”.
