Dear students,
Writing is certainly one of the most difficult skills to teach and learn.
Writing creatively is even far much more difficult and challenging than other forms of writing
students have to learn and use for different purposes in their lives . Yet, reading through the rich
and varied content of this magazine , one is likely to think creative writing is much easier! The reason
is so simple. All your pieces, whether in Arabic, English or French, are just outstanding . I
have to admit I took an immense pleasure reading them. The artistic creations of the active
Environment Club students are equally an impressive visual treat.
Quite amazingly , the entire creative writings you are about to read in this issue of your magazine
are penned by girls!!! The only male writings are Mr. Laabd’s foreword in Arabic and this
editorial I am delighted to write! In fact, this issue could have been printed earlier than this, but
I had to extend the deadline of receiving students’ contributions hoping boys would be generous
enough to share their creative writings. Unfortunately, nothing of that happend and I sincerely
hope it was just a matter of gallantry on the part of our male students. « Ladies first », they were
probably saying ;-) Therefore, we should expect more contributions from boys in the coming
issues. Is that a promise, guys?
Dear students,
Before I close this editorial, I would like to thank our most respected headmaster Mr. Laabd
Laabd for all his valuable cooperation, genuine encouragement and continuous support for all the
artistic, cultural, and sport activities organized by the different clubs of our school. And till we
meet in future issues, I hope you will enjoy reading this magazine as much as I did and …. don’t
forget to stay
I had hopes.. I was happy
My broken Dream
When I thought that my dream would come true
But the rain came and washed away everything
It washed away my hopes and dreams
And crushed my heart
It broke the way between me and my dream
I thought I would fly
But the rain took me down to the ground
I couldn’t talk … I couldn’t walk
I couldn’t eat.. I couldn’t breathe
I just cried and cried
Till I almost died
I didn’t know what to do
‘ Cause my dreams and hopes were washed away by the rain
I was so happy, but the rain washed away
Everything and brought me sadness
I don’t know what to do
I don’t know what to say
I just know that I’m sad
I just know that I’m crushed
My eyes are dry.. I can’t cry anymore
Cauchemar
Non.. Non! C'était plutôt un cauchemar
Me terrifiant sans cesse chaque soir
Toutes mes belles nuits deviennent noires..
Il m'a complètement changé. Quelle histoire!
Quelle vie trompeuse!
A Small-town Girl
I was born in a small town
My father would do anything to make me happy
I used to go to my town and run around the fields
And watch the golden sun
Shine so bright
I was a little girl
Just a small town girl
My father would do anything
To make me glad
I used to watch the bees
Make love to flowers
I used to watch the sun
Shine so bright and made me blind
Who I would watch the sunset with
I need a small town guy
Whom I will mean the world to
Who will tell me
I’m beautiful each and every day
Just like my father does
I need a small town guy
Not a little city boy
I’m a small town girl
S tarting from the smallest composition of an
atom to the largest existing creature, everything has its own
complex yet unique features & life cycle. Take a couple of
seconds to think of this life cycle. Let’s take the bird as an
example. Despite having millions of
its kind, this small creature has
never failed to drop our jaws in awe
when facing its exotic beauty .
Unfortunately, almost the only
thing we have been capable of
bringing to this creature is harm.
For the sake of our selfishness,
base desires and survival we have
maimed, killed, accelerated or
caused the extinction of countless
bird species.
Quite sadly, we, so - called
philanthropists, have turned into
creatures that are obsessed with
nothing but possessions! We are
ready to hurt, injure and kill
friends as well as foes to have more property, power and
money. It seems that Earth has never known a peaceful day
since we decided to make of it our home.We are constantly
harming our own habitat, polluting our own environment and
destroying the natural habitats of thousands of species. The
sound of our existence is as astounding as a blacksmith cutting
through metals. Instead of letting our submission be to the
spontaneous rhythm of nature, we decide to break it & make a
rhythm of our own that is not only disordered, but resembles a
maze that has no exit. We let the unknown take the lead in a
dance of which we don’t know the steps; we swing from side to
side until we stumble and fall. The consciousness of our
hazardousness’ radiance is far from being fully acknowledged.
But despite all the
damage, human kind is
in the process of
accepting these facts &
believing that the hope
of a better future is not
extinguished yet.
Through time, we made
sure to keep the original
trending from a
generation to another,
because what matters is
the quality not the
quantity. So does this
rule apply to our
lifestyles. Every one of
us has a special way of
living a life on a high
level of comfort &
excellence, we sure have
our own ways & paths
and that’s what lead to
wars & instability. Our
oxygen may be polluted,
but another source of
life keeps us standing
still: love. Despite being
irrational and clumsy,
our profound affection,
caring attraction and
infinite curiosity towards other people or subjects know no
boundaries. Th is is how humanity managed to stay on track &
develop. Even though we’re living in order to fix the mistakes made
in our past, we still recognize the efforts left by our elders because
learning from mistakes is a unique human quality. Just like birds,
freedom feeds our soul & love fills our hearts. We may have made
unforgivable sins and created dangerous weapons, but that had
never been our intention. We forgive and forget. We are the hunter
and the target, the poor and the rich all at once only to be
understanding, and the rest stays unpredictable.
