CISL Students and Parents,
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! We hope especially that our visiting
students from Cholula, Mexico, have enjoyed this traditional American holiday. Thank
you to all the families who have hosted one of the Mexican students and a huge thank
you to Mrs. Roth, who has coordinated events for them all.
This week we will be saying goodbye to our new German friends, too. We hope you
have had a memorable experience and will return one day! Again, thank you to all
families and students who have been involved in this special exchange (as it lasts six
weeks rather than just two), and our thanks to Hylton’s German teacher, Mrs. Smith, who
has organized everything for the exchange.
FUNDRAISERS
Our thanks to Mrs. Cathy Gidwani, for organizing the AVON fundraiser. It was another
very successful event with CISL students making profits of $578.97 on our total sales of
$1,939.99.
It is time now for the Classic Cookie event! The packets are here so you may pick these
up outside my office this week! All packets are due back to me with all payments by
Tuesday, December 6, or earlier. This is the BEST COOKIE dough! A great plus for the
holidays!
The dough will be delivered on Monday, December 19. We hope to have everything
organized by the time school buses leave but this may be optimistic! We will set up
outside the 4th street office, ready for pick up. Please be prompt, by 3:00 p.m. if
possible, as everyone has lots to do at this time of year! We have no where to refrigerate
cookie dough. Please email me if you foresee a problem with pick-up by 3:00 p.m.
HSD PROGRAM
In a previous email I gave details of the High School Diplomat Program at Princeton
University. The deadline is January 7. Students! This is a great opportunity that you do
not want to miss! Put in your application! You never know! You might be one of the
lucky applicants! You make a friend from Japan and there are no costs involved for two
weeks at Princeton University next summer. Current sophomores and juniors are
eligible.
MEETINGS
Boosters! Parents! We have changed our meeting at the Sandia Café to Monday,
December 12, from Monday, December 6. Apologies for any inconvenience this may
cause you. Email me to let me know if you plan to be there. 7:00 p.m. The café is on
Old Bridge, next to Safeway, just before Old Bridge becomes the Prince William
Parkway.

Thursday, December 8: Library Conference Room: CISL Student Committee meeting.
We welcome all of our full year foreign exchange students (13) to this special meeting.
We hope that you will be able to come from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. You will be
receiving a special invitation for this event.
Thursday, December 15: All CISL students - please come to our end of 2005 student
meeting! 2:15 p.m. in the enclosed cafeteria. The meeting will end at approximately
3:15 p.m.
TRAVEL
LAST CALL for applicants to travel to France over spring break! Packets are available
outside my office (pocket on the wall). Please return to me no later than Friday,
December 2.
CISL APPLICATIONS
Thank you, first of all, to all CISL students who helped with the CISL information night
on Wednesday, November 16. It was very successful, thanks to all of you, and
especially, the CISL Student Committee. I hope you will be able to participate again on
Thursday, January 12, same time, same place. If you know of any 8th, 9th or 10th grade
student who would like to join the CISL program, please let them know about this special
information evening in January and that application packets are available at the front
office, in guidance and outside my office. ALL APPLICATIONS ARE TO BE
RETURNED, COMPLETE, BY FEBRUARY 15.
