livelihood options for them are objectives <strong>of</strong> this proposed plan.<br />
Providing skills and create alternate livelihood means to augment income, the<br />
unsustainable use <strong>of</strong> natural resources could be reduced. If the natural resources<br />
are used optimally, keeping in view their carrying capacity, the objective <strong>of</strong> the<br />
project to increase the productivity and income <strong>of</strong> rural habitants in the project area<br />
through sustainable management <strong>of</strong> natural resources could be achieved.<br />
An indicative list <strong>of</strong> possible activities which can be taken up as individual /joint IGA<br />
which are also being implemented by Externally Aided Project <strong>of</strong> the Watershed<br />
Management Directorate are given below:<br />
1. Horticulture - Vegetable production, Mushroom cultivation and Floriculture<br />
2. Food processing , preservation, Pickle making, manufacture <strong>of</strong> soyabean by<br />
products and Bakery<br />
3. Cultivation <strong>of</strong> medicinal plants<br />
4. Fibre handicraft, Plate / rope making , carpet making<br />
5. Livestock production (backyard poultry, goat/ sheep units), Dairy unit - processing<br />
plants<br />
6. Fisheries<br />
7. Beekeeping<br />
8. Forest/ horticulture nurseries<br />
9. Seri culture<br />
10. Vermi culture<br />
11. Tailoring with shared/ individual owned sewing machine, Setting up a Individual/<br />
jointly owned shop or tea-stall and production <strong>of</strong> tools for artisan activities<br />
12. Marriage band, Tent house and Stove/ catering unit<br />
Self Help Group Fund Support: Since the marginalized groups are not secure on<br />
the financial front, specific action has to be taken to arrange the finances needed for<br />
starting an income generation activity. To meet and supplement the requirements <strong>of</strong><br />
an Income Generation Activity, a SHGs fund support for capacity building and<br />
working capital assistance is provided at the GP level. It will serve the purpose <strong>of</strong>
