Belvedere 5000 Boiler
DANGER: The Dynamic Belvedere 5000 Boiler must be open vented to prevent the
system becoming pressured – consult a qualified installer.
The operation of the Belvedere boiler like all Metal Dynamics products has been kept
simple.
The Belvedere Boiler has one main air intake located on the ashpan door which can be
operated manually or automatically. To operate manually, simply turn the small control
knob located on the left hand side of the ashpan door clockwise to open and therefore
increase the intensity of the fire or anti-clockwise to slow the fire down. If using the
automatic air control, firstly set the manual control knob so that the air flap is just closed or
only slightly open. Plug the adaptor into a standard power point and lead the socket on the
top right hand rear of the boiler. Turn on the power (the bottom flap will open
approximately 4mm away from the ashpan door). The automatic air control is connected to
a sensor which will sense the temperature of the boiler and open and close the air flap
automatically to maintain a constant temperature. The air flap also has a small oval swing
flap fitted at its centre which if placed in the open position will allow a small amount of
combustion air into the boiler at all time. This will only be required in low draught
situations. NOTE: The automatic air control WILL NOT OPEN if the flap is set to open too
wide. THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE TO PREVENT OVER-FIRING.
If the boiler has a glass door fitted an additional air wash at the top of the glass door can be
used manually to aid in burning the glass clean. This should be closed for overnight or
extended burn times.
The boiler also has a Flue Damper Control which operates automatically when the door is
opened and closed. If the boiler has been burning slowly as when burning overnight it is
recommended that the firebox be opened slowly to prevent the escape of excess smoke
into the room. The damper is factory set but can be adjusted, if required.
The ashpan door is fitted with a condensation tray which is located on the inside of the
bottom lip of the door. Under normal operation the condensation collected in this tray will
evaporate, however when first lighting the boiler or using wet fuel, it may become
necessary to empty the tray. The tray can be lifted out for draining.
LIGHTING THE BOILER (DAMPER & AIR CONTROL OPERATION)
(Make sure water connections are complete and correct, and the system is full with
water)
Set and light the fire using paper and kindling (fire lighters may be used). Have the air
control open. As the fire becomes established, set the air control to the desired position for

either manual or automatic air control. The position will vary depending on the area being
heated, the draught capability of the boiler, quality of the fuel being used and desired
temperature required. Let experience be your guide.
NOTE: Open the firebox door slowly to allow flue damper to open when refuelling the
boiler.
For overnight or extended burn times, reduce or close the air flap. If the fire goes out, leave
the small oval swing flap open. You may also set the air flap slightly open if required. This
may vary from installation to installation.
GENERAL INFORMATION

Rake grate and clean ashpan out regularly (rake and cleaning tool provided).
Avoid wet or green wood – these will cause maintenance problems in any boiler.
Briquettes or coal may be used in the Dynamic 5000 boiler and will give good
overnight temperatures.
Check and clean flues and smokeways at least every 6 months.
A hot fire burning slowly produces little or no smoke. A cold fire smouldering
produces maximum smoke.
Check rust inhibitor every 6 months or after any major boiling or water loss. The
boiler is made of mild steel and will give years of trouble free operation providing
anti-rust and, if required, hardness conditioner levels are maintained. If water
supply is acidic add sodium bicarbonate (cooking soda) – ask your dealer.
