TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The supply
Illumination systems account for 15% of global electricity
consumption. Attempts to save electrical energy cannot avoid
taking this fact into consideration.
Through European Union directive 2000/55/EC, the
organisation CELMA, a European Union federation of national
associations of manufacturers of lighting equipment and lighting
components, has become involved in the fluorescent lighting
supply, focussing research and development initiatives on the
objective of improving efficiency by reducing energy loss.
Ballasts for fluorescent lighting equipment supplied at mains
voltage are divided by CELMA into 7 classes according to
efficiency criteria:

The advantages of an electronic supply to the lighting equipment
Electronically supplied q-... type lighting equipment has the
following advantages:
if correctly supplied, q-type lighting equipment lasts longer than
d-type;
the light emitted does not produce a stroboscopic effect because it
is supplied at a very high frequency;
the cathode always lights up well: the circular area of unlit gas
around the cathode disappears the equipment lights up fully
without flickering;
the level of light is adjustable, if a dimmer switch is used;
there are no problems with the supply overheating: there is no
malfunctioning at high temperatures;
the light is not subject to fluctuations in the mains supply as the
supply to the equipment is always stable
