5.3 Data collection
Based on the description of the data needs for the transport chain freight O/D matrix in the
previous sections many (potential) data providers have been contacted. For each of these data
providers it has been investigated what data is available and under what conditions the data can
be made available for use in the ETIS reference database project. An overview of the current
status of the data collection from different data sources is given in Annex F. Tables 5.1, 5.2 and
5.3 give an overview of available data by source and/or country for trade data, international
transport data and domestic transport data respectively.
If a field in the tables is indicated by ‘o’ this means that the availability of the data is known. If
a field is empty this can mean either that the data is not available or that the availability of the
data is unknown. It is noticed that this table presents the status of the data collection up to the
test of the methodology; it gives a rough impression of the data availability. After the test of the
methodology, the data collection will be continued where necessary in order to collect as much
relevant information as possible within the limitations of the project.
