D5 Annex WP 3: DATABASE METHODOLOGY AND DATABASE USER MANUAL – FREIGHT TRANSPORT DEMAND Indicator Compilation Template No. 13 Ref. 2.3.2 Definition ETIS Glossary Computation Method (Formula) Estimated/measured rail transport emissions + corresponding unit cost Emissions of rail transport within a link or area COMMUTE model for passenger transport The emissions are calculated from energy consumption according to MEET tables. (COMMUTE software report p. 1920 ) Energy consumption equation is shown in Indicator Compilation Table 2.3.1 E= emission factor * Energy Consumption The sulphur dioxide emissions from diesel combustion are heavily dependent on the sulphur content of the fuel. The fuel specific sulphur emission (FSSO2) may be derived from the following expression: FSSO2 = 20 x %S where %S is the mass weight percent of sulphur in fuel. The value in the above table indicates a range of fuel sulphur content from 0.05 to 0.5%.
