“I Care” Safety Campaign<br />
As part of ongoing efforts to achieve a zero-incident rate within the yard, <strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong><br />
organised a week-long safety campaign from <strong>May</strong> 12 to 17, 2005 to further enhance employees’<br />
safety awareness.<br />
With the theme “I CARE – Working Towards<br />
Zero Incident”, the campaign aimed to further<br />
encourage personnel to adopt a proactive<br />
attitude towards safety by exercising CARE<br />
(Commitment, Awareness, Recognition and<br />
Evaluation) in preventing incidents at work.<br />

was officiated by Guest-of-Honour Mr Tan<br />
Pui Guan, Divisional Director of Occupational<br />
Safety and Health, Ministry of Manpower.<br />
To reaffirm their concerted commitment to<br />
achieve safety excellence and zero incident,<br />
employees, subcontractors and customer<br />
partners participated in a pledge-taking and<br />
signing ceremony, led by <strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong>’s<br />
senior management, including Chairman<br />
Mr Tan Kwi Kin, Managing Director Mr<br />
Wong Weng Sun and Executive Director<br />
Mr Lee Yeok Hoon.<br />
Reciting the safety pledge<br />
Launch of Safety Diary<br />
The event also marked the official launch of<br />
the Safety Diary, a user-friendly handbook for<br />
supervisors and personnel containing essential<br />
information on in-house safety rules,<br />
regulations and procedures. Employees and<br />
stakeholders were further acquainted with “I<br />
CARE – The JSPL Way of Safety” through<br />
presentations delivered by Safety Department<br />
Manager Mr Richard Tuan and Section<br />
Manager Mr Derrick Chin.<br />

and technical expertise to protecting the<br />
lives of those who work around us<br />
including partners and stakeholders.<br />
2. I will always promote safe work practices<br />
in the yard and onboard vessels at<br />
all times.<br />
3. I will always lead by example in upholding<br />
the safety rules and regulations of<br />
the company.<br />
4. I will do my best to achieve zero incident.<br />
5. I will conduct my work in a responsible<br />
manner conducive to a clean and<br />
healthy environment.<br />
6. I will ensure safe and sound system of<br />
work to comply with local, international<br />
and other legislation pertaining to<br />
Health, Safety and Environment.<br />
Sharing the “JSPL Way of Safety”<br />
As part of this week-long campaign,<br />
<strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong> also held smaller-scale<br />
launches of the “I CARE” initiative across<br />
various sections within the yard, along<br />
with a series of workshops on “Hot-work<br />
and Spray Painting” and “Risk<br />
Identification” to enhance employees’<br />
knowledge of safe work practices and<br />
incident prevention.<br />
