Another US$131 Million
Jack-Up Win
Jurong Shipyard has secured a US$131 million rig building contract in June 2005 to build a third Baker Marine Pacific
Class 375 (BMC Pacific 375) Deep Drilling Offshore Jack-up for Norway’s Petrojack ASA.
Newbuilding works for the third BMC Pacific
375 jack-up rig, to be named Petrojack III,
is expected to commence in the fourth
quarter of 2005, with delivery slated in the
fourth quarter of 2008. When completed,
the rig will be equipped with a drilling
package to drill high pressure and high
temperature wells at 30,000 feet whilst
operating in 375 feet of water, with the ability
to accommodate 120 men.
December 2004 and April 2005. The two
rigs, Petrojack I and Petrojack II, are
currently under construction in the yard,
with deliveries scheduled in March 2007
and January 2008 respectively.
Mr Berge Gerdt Larsen, owner and board
member of Petrojack ASA, said, “The Board
of Petrojack ASA is very pleased with the
relationship and co-operation extended by
Jurong Shipyard and its parent SembCorp
Marine. With the robust offshore oil and gas
market, we are confident that these three
premium jack-up rigs will enhance our ability
to serve our customers.”
Mr Don Lee, Senior General Manager of
Offshore Division, said, “Petrojack III is
the third jack-up rig on order by Petrojack
ASA. The jack-up will be identical to two
other jack-up rigs currently under
construction in Jurong Shipyard. This is
an endorsement of the confidence that
our client has in our ability and
capabilities to construct the jack-ups.”
Prior to the award of Petrojack III, Jurong
Shipyard was contracted to build two similar
jack-up rigs for Petrojack earlier in
The jack-up will be constructed based on the BMC Pacific 375 design
Overhaul of Transocean Legend
Transocean Legend, a semi-submersible rig belonging to
Transocean’s fleet, departed Jurong Shipyard in June 19 after
making a stopover at the yard for repairs and upgrading in
May 2005.
In addition to the standard drydocking works, key jobs carried out
comprised the upgrading of accommodation, including galley to
house more men, repairs to the anchor windlass assembly and
gearbox, upgrading of piping systems and installation of additional
lifeboat platforms.
On redelivery, the rig, measuring 102m in length by 67m in breadth,
with a draft of 37m, was towed to Russia for her next voyage.
