Personality Profile
a good image to be the face of Vitamilk Viora.
PAM: How was it like shooting an advert abroad?
MARTHA: The experience was good. We shot it in Asia.
We went to Thailand in a ve day shoot.
PAM: What's your view on the Ghanaian movie industry?
MARTHA: The industry is doing well. We are doing very
well. We are better than before with the kind of movies
coming out these days. Our story lines are moving from the
“Juju” kind of movies. We just need sponsorship to promote
our movies.
PAM: We haven't been seeing you on our screens for quite
some time now. Why?
MARTHA: I'm not doing a lot these days because I'm trying
to be very selective about the kind of movies I do. If I
should get myself into any movie, the script and role must
be very good. . It doesn't mean I'm not going to play any
bad role. I'm an actress and as such I have to be versatile.
I don't mind the role but the script should be one with good
moral values and one that people can watch with their
families.
PAM: What motivated you to establish this salon? It's a
really a nice one with modern equipment.
MARTHA: Haha! Thanks. I love to look beautiful and love
to make people look beautiful too. Haha it's funny but
right from childhood I think all my friends were
hairdressers. I also wanted to have my own company and
employ people at the same time and render services to
the public as well.
PAM: Are you currently working on some new projects?
MARTHA: Yes I'm going on set next month for some movie
shoot in Nigeria and here in Ghana. I can't wait for the
premier of my latest movie called "The Night Shift" which I
starred alongside Majid Michel and Shatawale real name
Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr.
PAM: Are you embarking on some social responsibility
activities?
MARTHA: With the support from Vitamilk, I organized
some get together for children with autism and hope to do
same for them this December.
PAM: What are your hobbies?
MARTHA: I love to talk, watch movies, listen to gospel
music and read.
PAM: Who are your favorite actors and actresses in
Ghana?
MARTHA: I love to act with Majid, Prince David Osei and
Adjetey Annan. They are so cool.
PAM: Your favorite actors and actresses in the world?
MARTHA: Meryl Streep, Angelina Jolie, Denzel Washington
and Kerry Washington.
PAM: Where do you see yourself in the next ve years in
the industry?
MARTHA: To be at the Oscars, Red carpet.
PAM: What's the future for Martha's Place Beauty Salon?
MARTHA: I want to have Martha's world where I would
have a restaurant, washing bay, training school all under
one roof.
PAM: Wow that's great!
MARTHA: Yeah. I also want to have a Christian TV station
which would be called Maranatha Broadcasting Network
which will impact on the lives of people and draw them
closer to God.
PAM: Any plans for school?
MARTHA: Yea, I plan of having my Masters in
Communications very soon and also to obtain another
Masters in acting.
PAM: What's your kind of man?
MARTHA: In ve years' time I would love to have a
wonderful husband who is God-loving, God- fearing, kindhearted,
hardworking, nice looking and caring.
PAM: Your advice for young people especially the ladies
who want to launch a career in acting.
MARTHA: Most young girls are desperate these days. They
have to know that all that glitters is not gold and life is not
a bed of roses so if people feel like acting is easy, I'll say
it's easy so far as you have the talent and the grace of
God, why not? But you shouldn't be desperate because
you want to be on TV; you shouldn't allow people to take
advantage of you because you want to be on TV. People
take advantages of the ladies because they want to be on
TV. Ask yourself how many people are you going to sleep
with before you become a star? Then you have a long way
to go. It's only God who can make you shine because He
created the stars and He knows the ones that actually
shines brighter. So if you don't have faith in God, you are
not patient enough and ready to learn, you will end up
nowhere. So just be patient, have faith, don't be desperate
to be on TV, take your time, and just don't give up on your
dreams. Keep practicing and try any auditions. Don't think
about money for now. The rst time I acted I had really
nothing for some time before the producers started paying
me. It takes a lot of sacrice.
PAM: What's your take on the rise of bleaching among our
young women?
MARTHA: Hmm! It's better most of the youth coming up
stop bleaching and tattooing because it doesn't really
help. Because you want to be on TV you want to become
Snow White? haha. What if a movie role or a contract
comes up and they needed your face but your skin colour
is going against you? Sometimes you have to think about
the future before taking any decision.
“
It's only God who can
make you shine
because He created
the stars and He
knows the ones that
actually shines brighter
