Bidwells Agribusiness is a leading international provider of consultancy and management services to the<br />

farming, food, energy and agri-investment sectors.<br />

<strong>Job</strong> Purpose<br />

You will work with and support others within the Agribusiness Department and the wider Land & Business<br />

Division to deliver a wide range of services to both new and existing clients.<br />

Hours of work<br />

Monday to Thursday, 9.00am to 5.30pm and 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on Fridays, with 1 hour for lunch.<br />

Key Duties and Responsibilities<br />

Key Responsibility Duties Involved<br />

General Responsibilities � Taking direction from Senior Agribusiness <strong>Consultant</strong>s and<br />

carrying out assignments as directed<br />

� Delivering a service in a highly proficient and professional<br />

manner with the highest levels of quality and attention to detail<br />

� Representing Bidwells Agribusiness at meetings, seminars,<br />

conferences and events, both on and off site, as required<br />

� Assisting to coordinate the communication of Bidwells<br />

Agribusiness activities within the department, firm and<br />

externally<br />

� Providing support, including some administrative work, to<br />

Senior Agribusiness <strong>Consultant</strong>s and colleagues<br />

� Building strategic relationships with relevant individuals or<br />

organisations<br />

� Identifying opportunities, generating leads and taking<br />

instructions from new and existing clients<br />

� Assisting to provide management and strategic advice to<br />

clients on a range of Agribusiness related instructions and<br />

projects<br />

� Carrying out research and analysis to assist project delivery<br />

and service development<br />

� Writing, collating, preparing documentation eg agendas,<br />

minutes and reports for clients<br />

� Responding to client enquiries in a timely fashion<br />

Specific Responsibilities � Assist with agribusiness consultancy and research projects,<br />

both in the UK and internationally<br />

� Assist with consultancy and other work for businesses in the<br />

food chain, government bodies and other entities involved in<br />

the food and agriculture industries<br />

� Assist with the administration of farm businesses and contract<br />

agreements including the preparation of budgets and cash<br />

flows, cropping schedules and farm plans, SPS claims,

agreements, reports and related correspondence.<br />

� Assist with providing management and strategic advice to farm<br />

and contracting businesses, including: meeting with clients and<br />

contractors, reviewing monthly reports, arranging/attending<br />

farm visits and meetings to deliver the services, dealing with<br />

related correspondence.<br />

� Making and implementing proposals for the restructuring of<br />

rural businesses<br />

� Analysing distress management situations and make<br />

proposals for recovery<br />

� Working with clients to prepare business plans<br />

� Researching and making proposals for appropriate<br />

diversification<br />

� Assisting clients with applications for grant funding.<br />

Team/Firm Responsibilities � Contributing to the preparation of the budget for the financial<br />

year and supporting the review and preparation of the<br />

department business plan<br />

� Represent the interests of the team as appropriate, within the<br />

Agribusiness Department and Firm as a whole.<br />

� Assist with the future development of Agribusiness service<br />

streams<br />

� Ad hoc tasks and responsibilities as may be reasonably<br />

required from time to time.<br />

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required<br />

Essential Desired<br />

� Sound agricultural knowledge and business � Agricultural, business or economics<br />

acumen<br />

qualification<br />

� Educated to degree level or equivalent<br />

� Second language(s)<br />

� Excellent mathematical skills and a high degree<br />

of numeracy<br />

� Strong financial skills and understanding<br />

� Excellent report writing skills<br />

� Good communication skills – written and oral<br />

� Good administrative skills<br />

� Excellent telephone manner<br />

� Competent in use of spreadsheets and other IT<br />

applications including Microsoft Word and<br />

Excel, Internet Explorer and email.<br />

� Clean driving license and access to own<br />

transport<br />

� Willingness to travel internationally<br />
