The World Superyacht Awards 2008
Burgess yachts receive top accolades in Venice
Boat International’s World Superyacht Awards were
announced at a gala evening in Venice on 18 April 2008.
This glittering event took place in the former
Benedictine Monastery buildings of the Fondazione
Giorgio Cini on San Giorgio Island (right opposite St
Mark’s Square and the Doge’s Palace) and was attended
by the world’s premier yacht owners, designers, naval
architects, shipbuilders and commentators.
Burgess CEO Jonathan Beckett hosted a table that
was in celebratory mood by the end of the night,
with a spectacular haul of awards and
commendations for yachts across our brokerage,
charter and operational management portfolio. In
particular, T6 swept the board, winning Best
Displacement Motor Yacht in her class and going
on to win Best Motor Yacht overall. Lady
Sheridan, Secret, Annaeva, Saint Nicolas,
O’Khalilia, Silver and Kadimo’s were all
shortlisted finalists.

and entertainment was provided by an
aerial acrobatic performance followed by an
incredible fireworks display set to a rousing
operatic soundtrack. A huge cake sculpted
in the form of Alibella was the after-dinner
