48 N E W S Pendennis Cup 11 – 17 August, Falmouth, England The British shipyard Pendennis and the Port of Falmouth Sailing Association have combined forces to organise a new regatta for classic superyachts: the Pendennis Cup, which will be sponsored by Burgess. This event looks set to put Falmouth back on the superyacht map by reviving a long tradition of racing in the town’s deep water bay. This will be a rare chance to see some legendary classic sailing yachts in action. Those already planning to attend this summer include Lulworth, the largest gaff cutter in the world, the Fife Bermudan cutter Cambria, the 19m gaff cutter Mariquita and the schooner Mariette, built in 1915. The Burgess Group’s sponsorship of the Pendennis Cup is a natural extension to the marketing partnership that exists between Pendennis and Burgess, two British based companies with a shared passion for outstanding yachts.
