Initial Letter & Itinerary 2013

Dear Parents/Guardians/Students
YEAR 11 CENTRAL AUSTRALIA TRIP 2013
In 1988, to celebrate Australia's Bi–Centennial Year, Mr Helmut Schaefer and a small band of
eager Year 11 students, undertook a trip to Central Australia. Each year since, Oxley College
has invited Year 11 students to participate in this exciting and demanding adventure. This
year’s trip to Central Australia will take place from Sunday 22 nd September to Sunday 6 th
October.
Bookings for transport and camping venues are in progress, and we now need to confirm
numbers and proceed with more definite planning. The total cost of the 15-day trip is $800
and a deposit of $200 will soon be required, with the balance of $600 to follow (see below).
Please note that the cost is inclusive of all regular meals, campsite charges, park entry fees,
transport hire and fuel costs.
As with other co-curricular activities of this nature at the College, a place can be secured
only if all normal school fee payments are up to date.
Deposits will be received in Room 6 on Tuesday 11 June from 8:00am until 8:45am.
No deposits will be taken before then. As there may be a limit on numbers, due to
availability of seats on the buses, a waiting list will be established for those with late
deposits. As there are many fixed costs to be covered, deposits are refundable only if the
student’s place is taken by someone from the waiting list.
A meeting of all Year 11 students taking part and their parents/guardians will take place
prior to the trip as part of the regular Year 11 Information Evening on Tuesday 30 th July. At
this meeting the itinerary, clothing considerations and other camp requirements will be
discussed. Subsequent meetings with students only will be called as required in the weeks
leading up to departure.
Payment of Balance options: 1 $600 in full at the July 30 th meeting
OR 2 $300 at the July 30 th meeting and
$300 on August 24 th (students will be reminded)
Please retain this letter but return the cut–off section below with the deposit to me in room
6 between 8am and 8:45am on Tuesday11 th June.
