Proposal Checklist<br />
The GEO/QGI <strong>Global</strong> <strong>Visiting</strong> <strong>Scholar</strong> <strong>Award</strong> proposal must include each of the components<br />
described below:<br />
I. Narrative (prepared with 12 point font, one-inch margins, and no longer than eight doublespace<br />
pages) must address the following:<br />

Relation to current programming, initiatives, or priorities in the PI’s university unit(s)<br />

Why was this particular scholar selected for this program? [½ page limit]<br />

Description of the work to be done by the visiting scholar, a timeline of the visit, the activities<br />
in which they will be involved and in what ways they will engage with students, faculty, and<br />
others while here [2 page limit]<br />
<br />
Anticipated outcomes (address Immediate, Mid-range and Long-term) [1 page limit]<br />
<br />
Evaluation plan that addresses immediate and long-term goals [2 page limit]<br />
<br />
Detailed time line for work to be done to accomplish immediate, mid-range, and long-term<br />
outcomes, specifying that portion to be concluded by the end of the summer 2015<br />
[½ page limit]<br />

Significance of the proposed activity to Quest for Distinction [½ page limit]<br />
<br />
How will the proposal enhance preparation of our students? What specific opportunities will<br />
exist for student participation, especially related to research? [1 page limit]<br />

How will your department or school prepare for the scholar’s visit? [½ page limit]<br />

A letter from the appropriate Partnership Director(s), if applicable, addressing the proposal’s<br />
fit with strengths and track record of the partner institution(s)<br />
<br />
A letter from the Dean and Director/Chair of each unit involved addressing the proposal’s fit<br />
with the unit’s strategic goals and metrics of Quest for Distinction<br />
<br />
A letter of support from principal participants’ supervisor(s) if different than above<br />
<br />
A letter of support from the appropriate authority at the visiting scholar’s home institution
