November Conspiracy
A day that shocked the world - and destroyed his life
November 22, 1963. Shots ring out in Dallas. President John F. Kennedy is dead. Shortly after the assassination, a
plane leaves Dallas for Detroit. There is only one passenger in first class, a Cuban diplomat. On that day and the
following days, the entire crew of the Dallas-Detroit flight dies or disappears under mysterious circumstances.
Coincidence - or conspiracy?
Ben Ford doesn't believe in coincidences. An insurance investigator, Ben was hoping to celebrate his 30th birthday
on November 22, 1963 by asking his stewardess girlfriend Katie to marry him. But Katie was on the mystery flight
and apparently saw something she shouldn't have. When she doesn't return that night, Ben begins to investigate...
As he delves into the inexplicable events, he comes across a connection to the Mob and the local capo's coldblooded,
power-hungry acolyte Frank Calasso. Though Ben enters a shadowy world of organized crime, high-level
secrets, betrayals and threats, nothing can stop him from finding Katie's killer. As he narrows in on Frank Calasso,
he makes a couple of mistakes that put him in the crosshairs of the brutal killer. But is Calasso really the
mastermind of a plot that threatens to engulf them all...
Forty years later, 70-year-old Ben is ailing and forced to move in with his daughter Kathleen. She has long been at
odds with her distant father, who never got over Katie's disappearance. But when Katie's body is found, the case is
reopened - and Ben becomes the prime suspect.
Kathleen cannot believe that her father could be a murderer - though what does she know of his past... Ben has
been trying to keep it secret from her for 40 years. But when he realizes that she wants to do business with a
Cuban businessman, it is too much for him. For the Cuban is the very man who perhaps killed Katie...
As Ben's story weaves the past and the present into an intricate tapestry, the discoveries Ben makes today
gradually unearth long-buried secrets. Little by little, the truth sheds its light on the enigma of November 22, 1963
and its consequences that continue to resonate in the present.
A Woman In Berlin
A true story of survival during the Russian occupation…
HER husband Gerd has gone with the rest of the soldiers; only a few pockets of German resistance remain in
Berlin. Joining the other desperate women, children and elderly as they flee through the bombed-out city
attempting to hide from the Russian soldiers, she fears the brutality to come…the Germans had done the same in
every village on their march to Moscow.
Without shelter to protect the women, and the rapes begin. Fueled by humiliation, horror and despair, she and the
others still attempt to flee or fight – but there is no escape. The jeering Russians take the women on the spot,
wherever they find them.
After several such attacks, numb and empty, she makes a strong pledge to herself – they can use me, but they
won’t break me…they won’t touch my soul. She decides that from now on, it will be her choice – not theirs.
Determined to seek protection and to survive, she offers herself to Andrej, the battalion commander, who unlike
the soldiers he commands, is intelligent, sophisticated and polite.
She is given a room in a widow’s huge apartment where Andrej has respectfully set up headquarters. Guarded by
his soldiers and supplied with the best of food and wine, the apartment is a safe haven from the random violence
outside. Although she submits to him, he treats her with warmth and respect. She still holds Gerd in her heart, but
Andrej’s gentle kindness melts her tough, protective shell and to her own surprising, she falls for the Russian
commander…
When Andrej gets transferred out of Berlin, they sadly part, knowing theirs to be an impossible love. When Gerd
returns, she hands him this diary with the hope that he can understand all that she has endured. But he rejects her.
What now? Having survived the horrors of war, she knows that she must simply go on living…
Romanzo Criminale
The dark side of the Eternal City
Rome in the late 70s. Capital of a country torn by ruthless left-wing terrorism and rampant corruption. Political
murders, spectacular bombings, high-profile kidnappings. Gut-wrenching times in a city that fosters crime and
brutality, yet whose underworld is a patchwork of petty gangs and small-time crooks. One man dreams of rising to
the top of the pack. With enough money, men and weapons, he will become Rome's King of Crime.
"The Lebanese" is what he calls himself, and his ambition is boundless. With his pal Dandi, he and his fierce little
gang rob shops and warehouses. When he meets the cool, sharp-minded gang leader "Ice," the hot-headed
Lebanese senses that Ice is exactly the man he needs to help him make his dream come true. The two gangs join
forces. Their reign of terror can begin!
Rome's warlords bow down to the newcomers. All except "Terrible," whom the Lebanese hates with every fiber of
his being. But in this line of work, you have to do business with your enemies. And as the Lebanese corners the
market for drugs, he makes lots of enemies. He also makes valuable connections among corrupt cops and
politicians, and in the Secret Service, which seeks to enlist the gang to destabilize the government and provoke a
right-wing coup.
But there's one organ of the State that is actively fighting the Lebanese and his gang: the young, idealistic police
inspector Nicola Scialoja. He's been after the gang ever since the kidnapping of a wealthy nobleman that ended in a
bloody fiasco. To learn more about the gang, he cozies up to call girl Patrizia, a ravishing beauty who's the mistress
of the Lebanese's right-hand man Dandi. But the cop falls for her and soon begins to wonder whether he's fighting
the gang for the sake of justice - or for his own sake...
When Ice falls in love with an innocent girl, he starts to long for a respectable life. But as the brains to the
Lebanese's brawn, he's indispensable. While the Lebanese and his gang continue to stir up Rome's underworld, they
begin to fall prey to fatal attractions such as women, drugs, drink, gambling, fancy cars, night clubs... And they
become more and more entangled with powers that will always be greater than themselves: the Mafia and the
State. As paranoia takes hold of the Lebanese, and disagreements can't be resolved without bullets or knives, the
fall from grace of Rome's leading gang is only a matter of time. An epic ballad of shattered friendships, boundless
criminal energy and unfulfillable dreams of power hurtles towards its harrowing coda...
The Rheinbergs
Banking is their trade. Power is their goal. Love is their weakness.
Some families are united by love, others by tragedy or strokes of fate. And then there are families like the
Rheinbergs, united by boundless ambition, ruthless power and fabulous wealth. To the owners of the distinguished,
gold-class Rheinberg Bank, feelings aren't important where money is involved - and love isn't worth a cent if power
is at stake.
The Rheinbergs are a pillar of Frankfurt society, their bank a respected institution, their family estate a magnificent
stud farm. Holding the reins of the family empire is matriarch Lilo von Rheinberg, determined to rule over her
family till her parting breath. Yet her power pales in comparison with that of her son Markus, the dashing but
unscrupulous head of the family bank. His beautiful and elegant wife Sophia exerts a stabilizing influence on him and
their three grown children: Frank, a budding bank executive in love with Grace, a district attorney; Elena, a horse
specialist; and Marietta, the spoiled child who always gets what she wants from people - especially from her
grandmother...
Trouble enters the family in the form of Mona Sailer and her daughter Ariane. Mona is Markus von Rheinberg's
sister, who turned her back on her family 30 years ago and raised her daughter alone in Spain. But after discovering
her true origins, Ariane vows to claim her share of the family's fortunes - which also means navigating the
treacherous waters of her family's established power structures. Mona returns to the family fold only to stand by
her daughter, even though she hardly has to: Ariane has all the brains and cunning of a Rheinberg.
Yet Mona and Ariane are the least of the Rheinbergs' current problems. Commerce Senator Blessmann vows to
avenge himself on the family for the death of his father, the Rheinbergs' trusted assistant and right-hand man. Then
the mysterious demise of a prostitute threatens to cast a shameful light on Markus von Rheinberg and his brotherin-law,
and even to tear the family apart when District Attorney Grace, Frank von Rheinberg's girlfriend, begins to
investigate... Dark secrets from the family's past are brought to light by various victims of the mighty Rheinbergs.
And new assaults on the family's wealth and standing are undertaken by others, who covet the family's immense
fortune. But as these ordeals and the international financial crisis threaten to destroy the family and its business, the
Rheinbergs realize that they can only successfully face new challenges, both global and local, if they overcome their
differences and work together - perhaps the biggest challenge of all.
The Border
In a world divided by fear, they hold the line...
The border is the last defense against global crime, and it's Mike Kessler and his elite rapid-response team, aided by
a futuristic global research and surveillance network, that risk their lives to guard it.
Counterfeit cancer drugs... the rescue of a submarine crew... the theft of revolutionary oil-extraction technology...
Afghan heroin hitting the streets - all extremely dangerous cases that make the unit's teamwork even more
critical...
But with the arrival of the new Homeland Security agent Liz Carver, the team undergoes a dynamic change. Young
and attractive, Liz has a brashness about her that both antagonizes and seduces the members of the unit. To the
charismatic Gray, she's a sensual breath of fresh air, but for the language expert Layla, she's competition. For
Kessler, who already has his hands full with the M16 agent Charlotte and his college-age daughter Zoe, Liz is both a
blessing and a threat - especially when her inexperience and idealism come into contact with politically sensitive
issues.
Charged with maintaining international security, the elite unit must first and foremost resolve their internal
conflicts and overcome the stresses of their personal lives. It's only when they can work together as an effective
team that they'll be able to successfully confront the extremely dangerous challenges coming their way...
Wild Roses
Land is their legacy. Oil is their fortune. Rivalry is their fate.
Welcome to the new West! Where overnight oil millionaires with Porsches and over-the-top mansions butt up
against the salt-of-the-earth cattle and rodeo country. It's a place where fortunes are made in the tar sands at noon,
and lost on poker tables at night.
It's been two years since the death of her husband, and against all odds, Maggie Henry (48) and her daughters Kate
(26) and Charlotte (15) have managed to run their beloved Rivercross Ranch on their own. It hasn't been easy, but
with business-minded Kate taking the lead, it looks like they have a good chance of succeeding. The return of black
sheep daughter Lucy (23), a free-spirited dreamer who left home for the city years before, reopens old wounds.
And with adopted teen daughter Charlotte always good for a dramatic outburst, Maggie Henry has her hands full
keeping her family under control.
The McGregors are the closest neighbors of the Henrys, and the head of the family is David McGregor (53), a
wealthy, powerful oilman and rancher. When he tries to take the Henrys' land, the women are shocked because
David is an old family friend whose life is closely interwoven with theirs. Years ago, David's father had left a large
part of his property to Maggie's husband - and now David wants it back. Complicating matters further is the fact
that David has long been in love with Maggie, and Kate and Lucy are both closely connected to David's sons Will
(29) and Peter (27). Although David likes to see himself as figure of authority, he's in for a sobering experience
when his sons begin to challenge him...
While David has the farm prospected for oil, Kate tries to save Rivercross by competing in rodeos, raising cattle
and developing the horse business. The results of the prospecting increase the tension between the two families,
who clash not only at Rivercross, but also in the gleaming glass towers and chic restaurants of the big city. Yet the
romantic relationships between the Henrys and the McGregors continue to thrive - as well as the intrigues spun by
the beautiful but spoiled Rebecca McGregor.
The Henrys and the McGregors may be neighbors, but they live on different sides of the new West - united by
love, but divided by greed.
German public, not to mention Romy's own mother, feels betrayed by Romy's defection to France...
Il Divo
Winner of the Jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival 2008
In rome, at dawn, when everyone is sleeping, one man is awake. That man is giulio andreotti. He’s awake because
he has to work, write books, move in fashionable circles and, last but not least, pray.
Calm, crafty and inscrutable, andreotti is synonym of power in Italy for over four decades. at the beginning of the
nineties, this impassive yet insinuating, ambiguous yet reassuring figure appears set to assume his seventh mandate
as prime minister without arrogance and without humility.
Approaching seventy, andreotti is a gerontocrat who, with all the attributes of god, is afraid of no one and does not
know the meaning of awe, since he is accustomed to seeing it stamped on the faces of all his interlocutors. his
satisfaction is muted, impalpable. for him, satisfaction is power, with which he has a symbiotic relationship. power
the way he likes it. unwavering and immutable, from the outset. he emerges unscathed from everything: electoral
battles, terrorist massacres, slanderous accusations.
He is untouched by it all, unchanging. Until the strongest counter power in Italy, the mafia, declares war on him.
then things change. perhaps even for the enigmatic, immortal andreotti.
But the question is: do they really change or only appear to?
We can be sure of one thing: it is difficult to tarnish andreotti, the man who knows the ways of the world better
than any of us.
Heart of Fire
In a land fighting for independence, a young girl soldier refuses to kill…
The ten year-old AWET has spent her entire life in an orphanage, where her naturally fiery temperament readily
absorbed the lessons on the sins of oppression and the value of self-worth.
Her hopes for a normal and happy family life are swiftly shattered when after a short and unpleasant stay with her
father, a fanatical supporter of the freedom fighters, both she and her older sister FREWEYNI are unceremoniously
delivered into the hands of the Jehba – the Eritrean Liberation Front.
Having been taught to fight oppression at all costs, Awet at first willingly chants songs of liberation along with the
guerilla group and, too young to bear arms, joins the other children in various support functions around the secret
camp. Still, her courageous sense of self-worth quickly puts her at odds with the group’s militant commander,
MA’AZA.
It’s not long before increasingly grave attacks mounted by their sworn enemies, the Shabia, create the necessity of
arming even the youngest children with rifles. Although barely able to shoulder the powerful weapon, Awet
dutifully learns to load and fire it.
But when the young soldier first sees the enemy dead and realizes that they are just as human as she, Awet makes a
solemn oath never to kill. Labeled a traitor by Ma’aza, Awet nevertheless stands her ground and fights the violence
in the disarming way that only a child could.
Giacomo Puccini's immortal opera in a high budget feature-film version directed by
Academy Award nominee Robert Dornhelm, starring the opera world's "dream
team," soprano Anna Netrebko and tenor Rolando Villazón
Paris in the 1830s. Four friends share a drafty Parisian garret. Though leading a life of privation, they are buoyed by
good spirits: the writer Rodolfo, the painter Marcello, the musician Schaunard and the philosopher Colline. It is
Christmas Eve, and they decide to celebrate in their favorite pub, the Café Momus. Rodolfo stays behind to finish
an article. There is a knock at the door; their neighbor Mimì, whose candle has gone out, asks for fire. Rodolfo is
fascinated by her. It is love at first sight!
The new lovers catch up with Rodolfo's friends at the Café Momus, where Marcello's former mistress Musetta
turns the evening into a spirited event. The light-hearted mood of Rodolfo's and Mimì's first days together does not
last, however, for Mimì develops a fatal illness. Though they agree to stay together, Mimì leaves her lover. Only
when she is desperately ill and dying does she return to the garret where she once was so happy - and to Rodolfo,
the man she still loves with all her heart...
"A moving tale...An appealing true story... A winning performance by Jalil lespert"
(The Hollywood Reporter)
Paris, 1992. Miloud, a Franco-Algerian clown and circus artist, is itching for new adventures. His destination is
Bucharest, where he wants to perform in hospitals and orphanages. But what he finds there is beyond his most
harrowing nightmares: the sewer children of the Romanian capital, outcasts treated like animals, ignored, abused
and even killed by uncaring authorities. Profoundly moved by their plight, he decides to stay. With nothing but his
charisma, his obstinacy and his big heart, he gradually gains the trust of the children,
Who know little else than violence and prostitution. In his struggle to improve their lot, however, he runs into the
merciless resistance of the authorities, who refuse to acknowledge this devastating scourge. Arrested by the police,
Miloud realizes that the only way to help the children is through his art: the circus! As he teaches them circus acts,
the children ? hesitant at first ? soon begin to enjoy themselves. And along with self-confi dence, they discover
Berlin Calling
Who needs wings to fly!
The legendary electronic music DJ ICKARUS returns to Berlin from an exhausting, worldwide marathon of club
gigs and raves. After various albums and countless concerts, Ickarus has reached cult status. Although he’s
completely fried, he and his girlfriend MATHILDE now dive into the job of getting his new album mixed and
released. But when he presents his new tracks to ALICE - the tough boss of his underground record label - she
doesn’t like it and tells him it needs more work.
Frustrated and burnt out from the tour, Ickarus still continues playing local gigs - until his dealer PEA gives him
some bad drugs and he totally freaks out, eventually waking up in a psych ward with Mathilde simply unable to
handle him anymore… He falls under the supervision of Dr. Petra Paul, an expert on drug rehab, and finds himself
in the midst of a crazed group of drug-infested patients and even a fan - the young ward assistant Alex. Though
Ickarus doesn’t take Dr. Paul’s rehab program quite seriously, she still allows him to set up his equipment and work
on his tracks. However, he’s way too wired and sneaks out one night to score from Pea and party.
But the additional hits throw him off the deep end. In a psychotic frenzy, he trashes the record label office and
collapses in a wasted heap. Realizing he needs help but having nowhere to go, Ickarus finds his way back to the
hospital. Now under heavy medication, the only escape left for Ickarus is his music and he throws himself into
working on some entirely new tracks to survive the timeless rehab daze.
When Mathilde unexpectedly shows up, Ickarus hands her the tracks, which completely blow her away. She rushes
them to the record label and before Ickarus is even aware of it, he finds himself again in the therapy room. This
time, though, it’s a photo shoot for his new album Berlin Calling.
”Berlin Calling” becomes the Next Big Thing on the global electronic scene and the reborn star Ickarus, re-tuned
to reality, is back on track.
Prom Wars
Love is a battlefield
When a town has one posh girls' school and two posh boys' schools, trouble is in the cards when comes Prom
time: who gets to take the girls to the Big Dance? The "nerd school" or the "jock school"? Tackling this Herculean
dilemma is a task for a natural-born leader, a self-confident, sharp-witted mover and shaker - for high-school senior
Diana! She triggers a Prom War when she decides not to put up any longer with the embarrassments and
humiliations of the two boys in her life: Percy, a decent guy and scholarship nerd who's a fish out of water in his
high-octane school, and Geoffrey, a pompous ass and alpha jock with entitlement issues.
They and their classmates will fight for the exclusive rights to take the girls to the prom. The war is ruthless.
Devastating. Hilarious - especially when the nerds face physical challenges and the jocks grapple with mind-teasing
tasks. As the two armies align themselves for the final battle, Diana and her fellow damsels marvel at the mayhem
they've set in motion for the siege of their hearts. Is there still time to make peace on the battlefield of love?
"For what it represents as well as for what it achieves, Prom Wars is as refreshing as it is funny." (Montreal Mirror)
Directed by Phil Price, this breakneck-paced teen comedy features popular young TV stars Alia Shawkat (Arrested
Development, Veronica Mars, State of Grace) and Ricky Ullman (House, M.D., Cold Case, Law & Order S.V.U.).
