THE RISK
The risk for humanitarian workers out in the field
has increased, and risk management has become
more complex and difficult the past decade.
THE COURSE
The Hostile environment field security course.
is open for invitees only, but target groups are in
particular; (I)NGO’s, UN, MFA, and media.
The topics covered:
* Personal safety and security
* Use of communication equipment
* GPS and map reading
* Actions on upon likely threats
* UXO/IED threat
* Road safety
THE PLACE
The place:
The training will be conducted outside Oslo in the
area of Gardermoen at Garder course and conference
hotell, with nearby ideal locations for practical
training/exercises.
The need for a better and more comprehensive field
security training has emerged. Teaching all type of
personell operating in high risk environments, some
basic skills and behaviour, help spare lives.
NRC prioritize staff safety and security in all of
our operations. We have a well instituted security
management system which creates the basis for
adequate risk managment of our operations.
The training seek to adress time relevant issues and
challenges personell might face while working abroad.
We can upon request by invitees include topics which
are not included in the training schedule, but of relevance
for their participants.
The training will be conducted in English, hence
an average knowledge of English is required.
The trainers:
We utilize resources and knowledge from our own
staff, as well as other relevant external actors.
The training will be planned, conducted and lead by
the NRC’s Global security manager.
