but as a term of employment may be required to work at any site from
which the College is offering or providing services, including Holly Hill.

To teach and facilitate learning for all students through managing
courses and learning programmes and assessment and by
contributing to pastoral systems and curriculum innovation,
development and implementation.
Personal Specification
Essential:
Experience of teaching Built Environment within HE
Proven industrial experience in a Built Environment discipline
The Chartered Status MCIOS/RICS qualification
A teaching qualification
Level II Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience of working as a member of a team and also working independently with
minimum supervision
Excellent theoretical knowledge in a built environment discipline
Knowledge of current industrial practice in a built environment discipline
Strong interpersonal skills and presentation skills
Experience of planning own work in relation to direction received
Knowledge of relevant practices in the UK
Ability to work under pressure and in a changing environment with external bodies,
employers, customers etc.
Ability to manage a diverse work load including meeting targets within set timescales
Recent evidence of relevant continuing professional development activities.

Self-motivated and able to motivate others by demonstrating enthusiasm and drive
Strong administrative skills

Desirable:
Experience of teaching Design History, Design Studies, Site Surveying &
Engineering and Quantity Surveying
Experience of setting up and developing courses and learning materials within a
Virtual Learning Environment
Knowledge and understanding of recent curriculum and accreditation developments
in the area
Good computer literacy skills
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To teach on HNC & HND programmes.
The candidate will need to have a sound background in a relevant discipline and the
application of theoretical knowledge in UK practice.
To act as a Course Tutor and/or Programme Leader to manage programmes of study
The majority of the work will include one or more of quantity surveying, construction
management, architectural design, building surveying, building studies subjects but may
include professional & Technical teaching
Undertake marketing and promotional activities including liaison with employers and any
other outside bodies, designed to secure and increase the number of student hours
accredited to the Division of Construction.
Undertake normal duties associated with the teaching programme, e.g. preparation and
marking reports and reference writing, registration and statistical returns, attendance at
Course Meetings and Education Development Meetings
Assist during enrolment. Assist with the development, planning and organising of
courses
Undertake assessments in the workplace as necessary
Assist with invigilating end of year exams
To assist in the marking of end of year exams
To attend the meetings at the local University for Review Boards

General Duties:
The postholder will be required to undertake other duties as directed by the Principal (or
his/her delegated representative) appropriate to the administration of the College and within
the abilities of the postholder.
