Eddie Lenihan:
The Ultimate Storyteller
When Eddie Lenihan tells one of his
enchanting tales, he casts a spell upon his
listeners. Lenihan is a seanchai, Gaelic for
storyteller. He has been mesmerizing audiences
with Irish folklore for over 30 years
and has become as mythical as the stories
he tells. As one of Ireland’s greatest
storytellers, Lenihan has been referred to as
a national treasure — one of the last of his
kind. He began telling stories to his children
in the early ’80s, which led to performances
in schools and other settings, ultimately
turning him into an international phenomenon.
He now travels to the U.S. and beyond
to tell his tales. Devoted to capturing the
essence of Ireland’s fabled past, Lenihan
draws inspiration from storytellers of bygone
days. In addition to authoring over 20 books,
he has made appearances on TV, film and
radio and at numerous folk festivals.

Excursion: Blarney. Visit Blarney Castle,
situated on over one thousand acres of
magnificent woodlands and known for the
legendary Blarney Stone. Tradition holds that
those who kiss the Blarney Stone will be
endowed with eloquence, or the gift of the
gab as the locals call it.
Independent Exploration: Enjoy time at
leisure to explore the town of Blarney.
Continue to Mallow and the Longueville
House Hotel. Tour the pristine grounds of this
working estate with proprietors William and
Aisling O’Callaghan, who will regale you with
riveting historical tales of this family business
that dates back to 1650.

fresh ingredients harvested from the estate.

Today, depart Mallow for Dublin.
Excursion: Rock of Cashel. Marvel at
the grounds and ancient buildings of one of
Ireland’s most fascinating sites. This striking
group of medieval buildings — the oldest,
a round tower, was built in the 1100s — sits
on ancient fortifications and is composed
of a variety of structures, including Cormac’s
Chapel, a 13th-century Gothic cathedral,
a 15th-century Castle and the Hall of the
Vicars Choral.
Arrive in Dublin and check in at the Westbury
