The boundless verdant hills and valleys
of Ireland have stolen the heart of many
a traveler. With luck, you too will be
enamored. Listen to the sound of crashing
waves at the Cliffs of Moher or duck into a
pub in Ennis to mingle with locals. Wander
bucolic villages and bustling cities alike,
discovering for yourself the wit, wisdom
and magic of the legendary Emerald Isle.

Local Focus: The History of Ireland &
County Clare. Delve into the history of Éire,
focusing on County Clare, one of the most
captivating areas of Ireland. The Celts,
Romans, Vikings, Anglo-Normans and British
have all left their mark on Ireland and County
Clare. Trace the epic events staged in this corner
of the storied Emerald Isle.
Excursion: Coole Park. Once home to
Lady Gregory, a lifelong friend of W.B. Yeats,
Ennis
Coole Park is a sprawling expanse of seven
wooded areas, peaceful trails and a walled
garden. Its idyllic atmosphere inspired much
of Yeats’ poetry. Although the house
no longer stands, one important
highlight does remain — the
copper beech that has been
etched with the initials of Yeats
and many other Irish notables.
Local Flavor: Enjoy lunch
in the tea rooms of Coole
Park.
Excursion:
Craggaunowen. At the
Craggaunowen Project, glimpse
into a chronology of recreated Irish
settlements, including a unique
crannóg, or lake dwelling. See the
replica of St. Brendan’s leather boat
that was used by Tim Severin in 1976
to re-enact the monk’s sixth-century
Atlantic crossing.
Local Focus: Irish Seanchai. Irish
storytelling, or seanchai, is one of
Ireland’s oldest and beloved traditions.
This evening, enjoy the riveting tales of

Killarney Lakes
Eddie Lenihan, Ireland’s most famous
storyteller.
Day Four
ENNIS
W.B. Yeats statue

Excursion: The Burren and The Cliffs
of Moher. After a presentation at the Burren
Center, enjoy a drive through this mystical
landscape, an ancient land that’s a source
of wonder for all who visit. Stop to marvel at
the ancient tomb, Poulnabrone Dolman, which
has been standing since the Neolithic era
(4,000-3,000 B.C.). Then, venture to the
majestic Cliffs at Moher for one of the most
breathtaking views in all of Ireland.
Local Focus: Irish Music and Dance.
Prepare for a lively evening during an
exclusive performance. Young musicians and
dancers from a local school will entertain you
with traditional music and dance, including
the Irish step dance, an old style of dance
that’s still popular in Ireland.
Day Five
KILLARNEY
Killarney
Today, depart for Killarney.
Excursion: Muckross House. Step back in
time at one of Ireland’s most-famous homes,
Muckross House, a stately, ivy-covered
mansion built in 1834 for a politician and his
artist wife. Surrounded by lush formal gardens
and traditional farms, the house has over
65 rooms, each opulently furnished in
Victorian-era décor.
Independent Exploration: After a brief
overview of Killarney, the afternoon is yours
to explore at your leisure whether you’d like
to sightsee or browse through shops for
souvenirs.

Excursion: The Ring of Kerry. Travel
along the Ring of Kerry, one of the most
scenic coastal routes in the world, with
serene beaches, ancient monasteries and
archaeological wonders at each passing turn.
Along the way, you’ll meet Brendan Ferris, a
local shepherd who will demonstrate the art of
shepherding sheep. See the charming coastal
villages of Caherdaniel and Sneem before
stopping at Ladies’ View for a panoramic view
of the Killarney Valley and its lakes.
Local Flavor: Enjoy a relaxing lunch in
Waterville, a picturesque village overlooking
the Atlantic Ocean.
Day Seven

Local Focus: Finding Your Irish Roots.
If you boast some Irish heritage in your genes,
start the process of uncovering your Irish
ancestry during this informative lecture that

Eddie Lenihan:
The Ultimate Storyteller
When Eddie Lenihan tells one of his
enchanting tales, he casts a spell upon his
listeners. Lenihan is a seanchai, Gaelic for
storyteller. He has been mesmerizing audiences
with Irish folklore for over 30 years
and has become as mythical as the stories
he tells. As one of Ireland’s greatest
storytellers, Lenihan has been referred to as
a national treasure — one of the last of his
kind. He began telling stories to his children
in the early ’80s, which led to performances
in schools and other settings, ultimately
turning him into an international phenomenon.
He now travels to the U.S. and beyond
to tell his tales. Devoted to capturing the
essence of Ireland’s fabled past, Lenihan
draws inspiration from storytellers of bygone
days. In addition to authoring over 20 books,
he has made appearances on TV, film and
radio and at numerous folk festivals.

Excursion: Blarney. Visit Blarney Castle,
situated on over one thousand acres of
magnificent woodlands and known for the
legendary Blarney Stone. Tradition holds that
those who kiss the Blarney Stone will be
endowed with eloquence, or the gift of the
gab as the locals call it.
Independent Exploration: Enjoy time at
leisure to explore the town of Blarney.
Continue to Mallow and the Longueville
House Hotel. Tour the pristine grounds of this
working estate with proprietors William and
Aisling O’Callaghan, who will regale you with
riveting historical tales of this family business
that dates back to 1650.
Local Flavor: William O’Callaghan is also

a noted chef and this evening, he prepares
a sumptuous and imaginative dinner using
fresh ingredients harvested from the estate.

Today, depart Mallow for Dublin.
Excursion: Rock of Cashel. Marvel at
the grounds and ancient buildings of one of
Ireland’s most fascinating sites. This striking
group of medieval buildings — the oldest,
a round tower, was built in the 1100s — sits
on ancient fortifications and is composed
of a variety of structures, including Cormac’s
Chapel, a 13th-century Gothic cathedral,
a 15th-century Castle and the Hall of the
Vicars Choral.
Arrive in Dublin and check in at the Westbury
Hotel.
Day Ten
DUBLIN

Excursion: Cosmopolitan Dublin. If
ever there were a place where history and
current culture meld, it’s Dublin. This
compelling and energetic capital city is over
1,000 years old, yet it’s cosmopolitan and

vibrant, with a mix of historical sites, elegant
architecture, literary haunts, sophisticated
restaurants and pubs offering traditional and
modern music. See the eighth-century Book

Independent Exploration: Dublin’s many
wonders are yours to discover on your own;

Longueville House Hotel, a beautiful
Georgian country house, was built in 1720
and sits on a 500-acre estate and working
farm. This family estate is owned by a direct
descendent of the original proprietor, who
built the manor with special details, including
ornate Italian ceilings, mahogany
doors and a grand staircase.
Sample cuisine from the manor’s
restaurant, which feature produce
from the two-acre walled garden,
meat and game from the farm, and
fish from the Blackwater River, which

may be levied. If connecting flights are requested, special promotional
fares may be used, in which case penalties of as
much as 100% may be assessed by the airlines if reservations
are changed or canceled after ticketing. After departure, if the
reservations are changed, you will be charged the higher, all
