Investing in Your Future
Dear Student,
Enrollment Services
What do you see when you envision your future? Do you picture yourself settled into a job you
enjoy, balancing family with service to your community and church? Or is your view obstructed by
a roadblock?
I’ve spoken with many students who feel this roadblock is their ability to afford the college of
their choice. And with the recent financial crisis, you may also be wondering if an Adventist
education at a private university is something that you should invest in. I want you to know
that the answer to that question is yes, and we’re going to show you in this booklet exactly how
that is possible. I truly believe that now more than ever it is absolutely vital to choose a quality
Adventist institution for your higher education experience. You need an exceptional environment
to prepare yourself to face the challenges ahead. As a student recently said to me, “I originally
thought that I couldn’t afford to come to Southern, but now I realize that I couldn’t afford not
to come!”
Do you have one of these financial roadblocks? We can help. Southern has a team of student
finance counselors whose sole responsibility is to help you find the tools to break through that
barrier. From scholarships and loans to tax credits and work opportunities, we can help you find
ways to make college affordable.
If you’re pondering how you’re going to be able to cover the cost of an Adventist education, this
booklet is a good place to start figuring it out. Look it over, and if you still have questions, give me
or one of our student finance counselors a call.
Wherever you choose to go to college, you’ll be
making an investment, and it’s an investment
that pays. In fact, college graduates with
four-year degrees can expect to earn 61 percent more
in their lifetimes than high school graduates.*
But is Southern’s education worth more than what
you’ll find at a state college or university? Before you
answer, consider this: the Christian values that are
at the heart of Southern’s education hold an eternal
value. As you lay the foundation for your future,
Christian friendships and caring professors will be
there to support you in your spiritual journey.
At Southern…
…you’ll be welcomed into an environment where you
can honestly seek answers to your spiritual questions.
…you’ll be invited to join
in the university’s weekly
Sabbath celebration.
…you’ll have the chance to
participate in ministry outreach
programs locally and globally.
…you’ll be a part of a campus where Biblical creation
COVER COSTS
by WORKING
Jobs for students are available on and
off campus. Students contribute a yearly
average of $3,500 toward costs by working
15-20 hours a week. Southern has approximately
1,100 on-campus student jobs, and there are also plenty of
part-time employment opportunities in the community.
FEDERAL
Southern to provide more on-campus
jobs for students.
