Discriminating craftsmen know that shellac<br />
makes a good (non-waterproof) finish<br />
coat, as well as a terrific sealer promoting<br />
excellent “hold out” for your finish coats.<br />
Shellac is also renowned as a barrier coat<br />
to seal sap woods, knotholes, resins,<br />
grease and oil marks, etc. It can be used<br />
under almost any type of finish! Also works<br />
great as a “size coat” or wood conditioner<br />
to help prepare soft woods to absorb wood<br />
stains more evenly. Shellac is a very<br />
versatile finishing product.<br />
When purchasing “Gold Dust” shellac it<br />
will arrive to you in sealed containers for easy storage and extended shelf life.<br />
Simply measure out the amount that you need, add alcohol and your on your<br />
way to using shellac like so many craftsmen before you! Available in 1/2<br />
pound, 1 pound and bulk packages.<br />
Shellac Starter Kit<br />
Everything you need to get started! Our <strong>com</strong>plete finishing<br />
kit includes everything you need to get started finishing with<br />
"Gold Dust" Shellac! Easy Choice Kit includes a 1/2 pound<br />
of "Gold Dust" Shellac, a quart of 200 Proof Shellac Thinner<br />
and a mixing cup with air tight lid. Simply mix up your<br />
shellac, allow it to sit for and hour and you're ready to get<br />
started finishing! This kit will make about 1 U.S. quart of<br />
shellac depending on the mix ratio that you choose. For a 2#<br />
cut (sealer, barrier coat) add 1/2 of the "Gold Dust" Shellac<br />
and all of the 200 Proof Alcohol. For a 4# cut (finish coats)<br />
add the entire 1/2 pound of "Gold Dust" Shellac to the 200<br />
Proof Alcohol. "Gold dust" is Lemon shellac and is a light<br />
yellow, to amber color. Easy to use versatile shellac - used<br />
for centuries - by discriminating craftsmen!<br />

filtered alcohol will evaporate at<br />
a slower rate than other denatured<br />
alcohol because it does not contain<br />
methanol or volatile ketones such as<br />
acetone. This alcohol is extremely<br />
low odor, making it very suitable for<br />
spray applications. A perfect alcohol<br />
for all types of shellac reduction.<br />
