8055 Safety and First Aid 8152 Driver's Education

Credit: 0.50 Safety and First Aid courses
provide specialized instruction in first aid
techniques, cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR), relief of obstructed airways, and general
safety procedures and behaviors. These
courses may include such topics as an
overview of community agencies and hotlines
providing emergency care and information and
opportunities for first aid and CPR certification.
Credit: 0.25 NACTEC Drivers’
Education—Classroom and Laboratory courses
provide students with the knowledge and
experience to become safe drivers on America’s
roadways. Topics in these courses cover legal
obligations and responsibility, rules of the road
and traffic procedures, safe driving strategies and
practices, and the physical and mental factors
affecting the driver’s capability (including alcohol
and other drugs). Experience in driving a vehicle
is an essential component of these courses.
8056 Health for Parenting Teens 8998 Outdoor Safety and Survival

Credit: 0.50 Designed for pregnant teens
and/or parents, topics within Health for
Parenting Teens courses cover a wide range of
both health and parenting issues, typically
including prenatal and postnatal care, health
and well-being of young parents, child
development, stress management, and
parental/adult roles. The courses may also
involve academic assistance, career
exploration, financial management, and so on.

Credit: 0.50 Health and Life Management
courses focus as much on consumer education
topics (such as money management and
evaluation of consumer information and
advertising) as on personal health topics (such
as nutrition, stress management, drug/alcohol
abuse prevention, disease prevention, and first
aid). Course objectives include helping students
develop decision-making, communication,
interpersonal, and coping skills and strategies.
Credit: 0.50 Physical, Health, and Safety
Education - (NACTEC = 0.25 credits)
Credit 0.50 CompassLearning Students will
explore health and wellness, looking at the
different types of health and all of the influences
on healthy decisions. Students will investigate life
skills, communication skills, and decision-making
strategies.
