Fine and Performing Arts 5049 Dance - Eskimo 5102 Concert Band Prerequisite: Prerequisite: Grade Level: 912 Grade Level: 912 Credit: 0.50 Initial classes are usually introductory in nature, while the more advanced classes concentrate on improving students’ technique and may offer or require experience in choreography and dance evaluation. Credit: 0.50 Courses in Concert Band are designed to promote students’ technique for playing brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments and cover a variety of band literature styles, primarily for concert performances. 5053 Drama - Comprehensive 5106 Instrumental Ensemble Prerequisite: Prerequisite: Grade Level: 912 Grade Level: 912 Credit: 0.50 Drama—Comprehensive courses are intended to help develop students’ experience and skill in one or more aspects of theatrical production. Fine and Performing Arts 5108 Guitar 5112 Prerequisite: Grade Level: 912 Prerequisite: Grade Level: 912 Individual Technique - Vocal Music Credit: 0.50 Guitar courses introduce students to the fundamentals of music and guitar-playing techniques, such as strumming and chords. These courses may also include more advanced guitar-playing techniques. Credit: 0.50 Individual Technique—Vocal Music courses provide instruction in and encourage the development of vocal techniques (including aural development) other than the ability to sing in groups. These courses may be conducted on either an individual or small group basis. Individual Technique - 5109 Instrumental Music 5118 Music Appreciation Prerequisite: Prerequisite: Grade Level: 912 Grade Level: 912 Credit: 0.50 Individual Technique—Instrumental Music courses provide individuals with instruction in instrumental techniques. These courses may be conducted on either an individual or small group basis. Credit: 0.50 Similar in nature to Music History/Appreciation courses, Music Appreciation courses focus specifically on students’ appreciation of music. They are designed to help students explore the world of music and to develop an understanding of the importance of music in their lives. 5111 Vocal Ensembles 5155 Creative Art - Drawing/Painting Prerequisite: Prerequisite: Grade Level: 912 Grade Level: 912 Credit: 0.50 Vocal Ensemble courses are intended to develop vocal techniques and the ability to sing parts in small ensemble or madrigal groups. Course goals may include the development of solo singing ability and may emphasize one or several ensemble literature styles. Credit: 0.50 Creative Art—Drawing/Painting courses cover the same topics as Creative Art—Comprehensive courses, but focus on drawing and painting. In keeping with this attention on two-dimensional work, students typically work with several media (such as penand-ink, pencil, chalk, watercolor, tempera, oils, acrylics, and so on), but some courses may focus on only one medium.
