16. Action required:<br />

The LHA should undertake a training needs analysis <strong>of</strong> all staff working in <strong>the</strong> child<br />

protection <strong>and</strong> welfare service to inform <strong>the</strong>ir training programme <strong>and</strong> develop <strong>and</strong><br />

implement a comprehensive staff training programme based on <strong>the</strong> training needs<br />

analysis to improve <strong>the</strong> outcomes for children accessing child protection <strong>and</strong> welfare<br />

services.<br />

17. Action required:<br />

The LHA should put in place a multi-disciplinary training programme to ensure that<br />

<strong>Child</strong>ren First (2011) is fully implemented by all pr<strong>of</strong>essionals that come into contact<br />

with children.<br />

<strong>Child</strong> protection <strong>and</strong> welfare training is provided to staff working in <strong>the</strong> service to<br />

improve outcomes for children.<br />

An individual training needs analysis will be completed by <strong>the</strong><br />

Management Team <strong>of</strong> all staff with whom <strong>the</strong>y have<br />

responsibility for supervising.<br />

Ongoing training needs will be rev<strong>ie</strong>wed in supervision as<br />

part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Continuous Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Development Plan for all<br />

staff.<br />

All information on training needs will be collated <strong>and</strong><br />

forwarded to <strong>the</strong> Training Unit <strong>and</strong> <strong>Service</strong> Director.<br />
