1. Pat provided a review of the background issues.
2. Alfred provided an up-date on the work of the group dealing with Mental
Health/Treatment. This group has identified three initiatives to be undertaken next
year:
a) the development of a Directory of Services;
b) a needs assessment;
c) monthly meetings at which an inter-agency newsletter and shared P.D.
initiatives will be developed.
3. Louis provided an update on the work of the group dealing with issues around
foster children.
Hanover and Seine River have developed a proposal for a Community/School
Worker. This position to be cost-shared by Hanover, Seine River, Child & Family
Services East, and Child & Family Services Central. The proposal has been
approved by the school divisions, and has been submitted to Child & Family
Services.
The protocol for registration of foster children in schools has been distributed to
schools. It was suggested that Louis and Pat ensure that Child and Family
Services are made formally aware of the protocol.
