THE JOHN CLARK TROPHY RETURNS TO CANADA
Euro Junior Golf Cup Draws to a Close at Ladybank
ST. ANDREWS, SCOTLAND —The culmination of the 2009 Euro Junior Golf Cup saw matches hosted at
Ladybank Golf Club. Ladybank is no stranger to high levels of championship golf, due to their involvement with many
prestigious events. The Scottish Open Amateur Seniors Championship, The British Boys Championship, The Ladies
held at Ladybank. All serious golfers would truly appreciate this ideal venue for the final matches of the Euro Junior
Golf Cup.
Entering the final round of match play, Canada’s sizeable point lead of 5 ½ over Scotland and 12 ½ over USA
might have been a daunting task in-front-of the competitors but, the tenacity of all teams present was prevalent
in the final matches of the 2009 Euro Junior Golf Cup.
In the Boys 14 & Under Division team Scotland and USA tried to mount a comeback for their respective
nations. Stealing the first point for the American’s 14 & Under Division was JJ Qualkenbush of La Quinta,
CA who was victorious over Scotland 3 and 2.
Ewan Scott of St. Andrews, Fife won both of his matches to personally go undefeated in six matches over the
course of the event. Daniel Hall of Saline, Fife and Robbie Spriddle of Dunfermline, Fife took 2 of 4 matches
beating the Americans 5 and 3, 9 and 8 respectively.
The division was captivated by the Canadians going 7-1-0 with outstanding play by Joey Kremer of Toronto,
ON, Drew Nesbitt of Shaty Bay, ON and Samuel Hebert, St-Thomas, ON.
In the Girls 19 & Under Division, Mayko Chwen Wang of Hacienda Hts., CA closed out both of her matches
on the 14th hole for 6 and 4 victories. Wang was relentless throughout the event and was undefeated in all of
her matches. Sammy Munro of Aberdour, Fife lead the charge for Scotland in the final round of match play
when she defeated Canada 3 and 2 and USA 5 and 4. Scotland’s Ladies went 2-0-1 in Friday’s matches.
The final matches of the day between the Boys 15-19 Division almost all came down to the wire. Team USA’s
Charles Valluzzo of Mt. Pleasant, SC started the American’s rally defeating Canada 3 and 2 and Scotland 2
and 1. Fellow USA teammate Douglas Head of Temecula, CA continued his strong play adding two more
victories to individually go 5-1-0 on the tournament. Michael Troy of Stamford, CT added a pair of wins to
help the striving Americans cut into the lead.
Neil Beattie of St. Andrews, Fife closed out his matches over the Canadians on the 15 th hole winning 4 and 3
and continued to defeat the Americans 1-up. Local resident of Ladybank, Fife, Gavin Wilson and Jordan
Mooney of Burntisland, Fife both posted a victory in their final round matches to help Scotland hold out the
charging Americans.
As the last putt dropped in the Boys 15-19 Division, team Canada separated themselves from the rest with
numerous players closing out their matches in the final-round of play. Taking both matches over the Scotsman
and Americans were: Alex Dumais of Caledon East, ON and Braeden Mueller of Regina, SK. Splitting their

matches and adding another point each to the standings were: Mark Canfield of Malagash, NS, Brady Lee of
